It's TIME to build your SUPPORT TEAM!
What does that look like, you ask? Well, let's break it down.
You'll want to find an or Midwife, that aligns with the type of birth you want. Are you wanting an unmedicated birth, a home birth, an epidural, a c-section, etc? Determining your birth style, will point you in the direction of a Midwife or an OB.
From there, we highly recommend a DOULA. ESPECIALLY, if you are a FIRST TIME MAMA. Why?? Because a doula will walk beside you, giving you guidance, education, help you create a birth plan, making sure you are informed on your options, and will help teach you how to advocate for yourself and so much more! We cover pretty much everything you might face in labor and birth, as well as postpartum and breastfeeding. We give you all the tools you need to be able to walk into birth with confidence. Knowledge is so powerful!
From there, you'll want to think about having in place the following:
A Pediatrician: find one that aligns with what you want for your baby. Are you i'm vaccinating or a No Vax family? Find a provider who supports your values and choices.
Postpartum Support: this may be your doula, or maybe you have family members who will step in and help those first few weeks after baby is born, someone who I'll help what dishes, cooking laundry and light housework, so that you are able to rest and allow your body to heal, along with snuggling, bonding with baby i'm getting familiar with breastfeeding.
Postpartum Therapist: Not every new mom experiences, depression or anxiety during postpartum, but it's always good to have a postpartum therapist in your phone, in the event you need some extra support, your postpartum mental health and well being matters!
Pelvic Floor Therapist: Many moms benefit from having a few visits after birth with a pelvic floor therapist. Pushing out babies can take a huge toll on your pelvic floor, which can lead to uterine and bladder prolapses, as well as incontinence. It's better to get the therapy and allow your body to heal properly before you have your next baby.
Chiropractor: Having a Webster trained Chiropractor, also one that specializes in Spinning Babies Technique, as well as Cranial Sacral adjustments, is so beneficial during pregnancy and postpartum for yourself, and then also after baby is born.
Lactation/Breastfeeding Support: like an IBCLC, CLC or Breastfeeding Peer Counselor. They will be able to help give guidance with all things that concern breastfeeding, lactation, latching, milk production, pumping, etc.
Birth Photographer: Many mama's want to have photos , like maternity, during birth, and shortly after birth of the baby. It's good to I'll check out to different photography styles and find somebody that has the style your want for your photos. These are lasting memories, so you want to find someone whobis professional and has great quality photos.
