During her evaluation, Dr. Hamada noted signs of poor airway health, including mouth breathing, restlessness, and interrupted focus.

While this patient’s bite and overbite may appear “normal,” a closer look at facial development revealed concerns with jaw position and airway size.

Teeth need to be properly positioned within the craniofacial complex to support a healthy airway.

By widening and guiding the upper jaw forward, we’re working to improve space for the tongue, eliminate the “tired eyes,” and overall facial balance so this patient can breathe and sleep better as he grows!

Asthma. Mouth breathing. A high, narrow palate.

These aren’t separate; they’re connected through the airway! This patient’s vaulted palate restricted nasal airflow, leading to mouth breathing, which resulted in asthma.

Since starting airway-focused orthodontics, early improvements include no snoring, no asthma, and even nasal breathing during sports! Treatment is ongoing, but results like this highlight the importance of early airway development!
