Northstar Aromatics As a Winemaker turned Aromatherapist my passion has always focused on aromatics. I encourage and teach only safe, ethical sourcing and use of essential oils.

I look forward to sharing my gift of hand poured and hand crafted alchemy with you. Koru Essential Oils is created out of the love of science and nature. I studied wine making in Washington State, earning a degree in Enology, Viticulture, and Fermentation Science. Built on a foundation in the wine industry and medical massage therapy, aromatherapy seemed to be a natural next step. The pure therapeutic essential oils are hand chosen from all over the world. I'm so excited to be working with my very own oils and know exactly what they are, what they are not, where they come from - dialed down to the latitude, longitude, soil type, harvest date and even the Brix! (Sugar measurement, or Brix, isn't just specific to wine - it's applied to essential oils as well.) It's just one of the many important variables that assist me in determining the aroma quality, chemical compounds, their concentrations, as well as purity! Most of my oils are wild grown or certified organic as well. I only bottle the highest quality oils and I run trial after trial to assure that everything that goes into Koru Essential Oils is of the highest quality. I even hand pour, hand bottle, and hand label them, typically upon order so that they remain fresh until you receive them! Think of a demanding aromatic wine that knocks your socks off and you (might) be prepared to experience Koru Essential Oils!

An olfactory training kit, hand poured to order, made with intention and care for someone beginning (or continuing) their smell recovery journey.

Loss of smell is something so many people are still quietly dealing with… after illness, long-term changes, or even without clear answers. It can affect everything from how you experience food to how you feel in your own space.

But there is hope.

Olfactory training is a simple, research-supported way to help retrain the brain to recognize scent again… gently, consistently, and over time.

And what feels especially meaningful to me is that this support is available right here in Minnesota, hand poured and thoughtfully created for you.

I’m sitting here tonight thinking about today… and it’s hard to put into words what these days mean to me.

There were familiar faces I got to hug and catch up with… and new faces who stopped, slowed down, and took a moment to experience something I created with my own hands.

There were conversations, laughter, questions, and those quiet little moments where someone finds a scent and you can just see it click for them… those are the moments I carry home with me.

This little business of mine started with a passion for aromatherapy… but what it’s really become is connection. Real, human connection.

And days like today remind me why I do this.

To everyone who came out and supported, who shared kind words, who chose to shop small… not just with me, but with all of the incredible vendors there today… thank you. You are the reason this gets to exist.

And to those supporting from home, please know you’re just as much a part of this story 🤍

I’m heading into tonight tired in the best way… and incredibly, deeply grateful.

Rows of bottles, hand poured one by one, getting ready for tomorrow’s Spring Market. There’s something really special about these moments… quiet, focused, and full of intention.

Every single one of these will end up in someone’s home, part of their routine, their space, their day… and that never feels ordinary to me.

This is what hand poured small business aromatherapy looks like tonight 🤍

Boxes stacked, bottles lined up, labels going on, and a whole lot of last minute pouring happening for Saturday’s Vendor Show here in DL.

I’m not going to lie… I’m exhausted.
But I’m also incredibly grateful.
Grateful that I get to create with my hands.

Grateful that I get to share something I truly love.

Grateful that there are people out there who value it, support it, and bring it into their homes.

Every order on this table is going somewhere… to someone’s space, someone’s routine, someone’s moment of calm. And that will never stop being special to me.

Thank you for making this possible. Truly.

There’s something about this time of year… when we all start coming out of winter a little and looking for places to gather again 💛

This Saturday, Washington Square Mall is hosting a Spring Market filled with local artists, makers, and small businesses and it’s one of those simple, feel-good ways to spend part of your day.

You can wander, discover something new, support local, maybe grab a treat, and just enjoy being out and around people again.

I’ll be there with Northstar Aromatics, but more than anything, I’m just really looking forward to being part of a space that brings our local community together like this.

Spring is starting to peek through here in Minnesota and I’m in the studio pouring fresh for something special 🌿✨

This Saturday, I’ll be at the Spring Market Shops at Washington Square Mall in Detroit Lakes from 10–3, surrounded by so many incredible local makers, artists, and small businesses.

Right now my space smells like citrus, woods, florals, and a little bit of magic as I hand pour fresh batches just for this market… laundry oils, roll-ons, and a few favorites ready for you to experience in person.

If you’ve ever wanted to smell everything before choosing, ask questions, or just say hi, this is the perfect chance.

Come shop, wander, sip something warm, and support local. It truly means everything. 💛

One of the team members The Dashery in Alexandria was restocking the Northstar Aromatics shelf and apparently needed a little moment outside. Since they’re not smokers… hydrosol break it is. 😂

One of my customers sent me this photo yesterday while washing fresh fruit using a simple produce wash recipe from the Northstar Aromatics blog.

Lemon has long been loved for its bright, uplifting aroma, but it’s also traditionally used in natural cleaning because it leaves things feeling fresh and vibrant.

Seeing people actually using these little everyday aromatherapy ideas honestly makes my heart so happy.
Sometimes the simplest things really are the best.

One of the things I love most about aromatherapy is how these beautiful plant oils can become part of everyday life in simple, practical ways. Lemon essential oil is naturally bright, fresh, and traditionally used for cleaning because of its uplifting aroma and cleansing properties.

Seeing people actually using the recipes and ideas I share means the world to me.
