A couple weeks ago I tackled Ironman Michigan 70.3 in beautiful Frankfort. 2 weeks before the event i detached my right bicep and thought I might not be able to compete. Luckily Doc said I was good to do the event on Sunday and Tuesday I had surgery.
To make things more interesting my bike also decided to shred the two small gears on the derailleur at the friggin start line and I thought the day was over. Another athlete watching in the crowd who couldn’t compete that day due to injury but already had his bike in the corral offered me to use his bike and luckily we were about the same height. Pete Tompkins saved the day and allowed me to finish the race! What an amazing human. This is why the sport of triathlon is so dam awesome!
