Reducing your risk of skin cancer is easy! Here are a few tips.

1. seek shade when possible
2. wear clothing that protects your skin from the sun, including hats
3. WEAR SUNSCREEN! Yes, everyone should protect their skin from the harmful UV rays even if they don't burn easily. Choose one with SPF 30 or higher, broad spectrum, and water resistant
4. apply sunscreen 15-30 minutes before heading outdoors
5. reapply sunscreen every 2 hours or after sweating or swimming

Skin cancer can happen to any skin type. Here are our tips to start checking yourself at home! It's as easy as 1-2-3!

1. Get a mirror and/or a partner and examine your skin from head to toe once a month. Use a handheld mirror or partner for hard to check areas like the top of your head and back.

2. Look for:
* Dark spots, growth, or any patch of skin that is growing, bleeding, or changing in any way
* Sore that won't heal - or heals and returns
* Patch of skin that feels rough and dry

3. Call your dermatologist if you notice anything suspicious!

We're always getting asked about food causing acne. The latest research shows that acne-promoting foods include high glycemic index foods, dairy products, high fat foods, and chocolate.

On the bright side, there are foods that help to protect against acne - like fatty acids, fruit, and vegetables!
