He cherished knowledge, wrote poems, played baseball and skateboarding, and dreamed of trips with loved ones, including Paris. He faced sickle cell disease with courage and even traveled solo to Chicago.

Robert Edward Thompson entered eternal rest on February 7, 2026, at the age of 90. Born in East St. Louis, Illinois, he was a devoted father, grandfather, and great‑grandfather whose steady presence and quiet strength shaped his family for generations. Robert enjoyed a long and fulfilling career as a horse trainer, with numerous horses he trained competing across the United States—an accomplishment that brought him great pride. Robert will be honored in Detroit before being laid to rest at Sunset Gardens of Memory in Millstadt, Illinois.

People often ask why God does not make Himself obvious enough that no one could doubt Him, but Scripture reminds us that God already did exactly that. He stepped into our broken world in human form, walked among us with compassion and truth, and instead of being embraced, He was rejected and crucified. The cross stands as proof that unbelief is not solved by more evidence, but by surrendered hearts. God is not hiding, He is inviting, and belief begins not when God forces Himself on us, but when we choose to respond to the love He has already shown.

Kathleen Denise Gale, a cherished grandmother, Detroit native, retired Chrysler employee, and passionate poker player, passed away on December 21, 2025. She was born on May 13, 1965.

A public viewing will be held on Friday, January 2nd, 2026, from 3 PM to 8 PM at the Metropolitan Church of God, located at 13400 Schaefer Highway, Detroit, MI.

The funeral service will take place on Saturday, January 3, 2026, at 12 noon, with a family hour starting at 11:00 AM, also at the Metropolitan Church of God.
