Gerald Adolph Mitchell, 89, of Detroit, Michigan, passed away on December 17, 2025 and was born on March 9, 1936. A devoted member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Detroit, he will be remembered for his resilience, love for his family, dogs, and his signature style, including his favorite bucket hats. Happy Thanksgiving Friend!

Our prayer for you today is that God meets you right where you are. Be it at a full table, in a quiet house, in between kitchen timers, or on a quick break at work I pray that He fills your heart with overflowing gratitude and peace. If this Thanksgiving feels heavy for you this year, or if things are hard, we pray that God fill you abundantly with His presence and comfort. We pray that He will draw especially near, and that worship would become a soft place for your soul to rest.

We want you to know this from our heart. We are deeply, sincerely grateful for you. For the way you keep showing up to read these words. For the way you love Jesus. For the way you carry hope and faith into your own circles and families.

Janice Shirley-Thompson, age 69, formerly a dedicated social worker in Michigan, passed away peacefully on November 23, 2025. Born to George Mallard and Elizabeth Shirley, Janice devoted her life to serving others with compassion and strength. She is cherished by her family, who remember her love of music, poetry, and the color purple. Her legacy of care and commitment will be honored at a full funeral service on Saturday, December 6th. She leaves behind a community deeply touched by her kindness and a family who will continue to celebrate her life and memory.

Hollis Milton Evans

Hollis Milton Evans, affectionately known as Milton, passed away on November 19, 2025, at the age of 81 after a courageous battle with ALS. Born on September 4, 1944, in Chicago, Illinois, Hollis made Detroit his home for over six decades, dedicating his life to faith, service, and community. A proud graduate of Wayne State University, he faithfully served as pastor of Trinity Baptist Church in Detroit for over 40 years and was a veteran of the United States Army. Hollis will be remembered for his devotion to family, his spiritual leadership, and his unwavering commitment to helping others. He leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and service that will continue to inspire all who knew him.

JoAnn Dickerson

JoAnn Dickerson, born May 10, 1950, in Detroit, Michigan, passed away on November 15, 2025, at the age of 75. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, and sister whose life was marked by devotion to family and a gift for cooking, especially her well-known strawberry cheesecake. JoAnn worked for many years in public schools and at Farmer Jack as head cake decorator, and she will be remembered for her warmth, resilience, and love that touched all who knew her.
