For more than 4 decades, Tamara Grigoleit has dedicated her life to nursing, guided by a steady commitment to compassion, excellence, and human connection. With over 45 years in healthcare and more than 30 years in palliative and hospice care, her career reflects both remarkable depth and an unwavering belief in caring for people at life’s most vulnerable moments. Beginning in pediatric palliative care, Tamara’s work has always been rooted in meeting patients and families where they are, with empathy, skill, and presence.
Tamara’s professional journey includes leadership roles within respected institutions such as UCSF, Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital at Stanford, UC Davis, and Sutter’s Hospice and Palliative Care program. It was during her time at Sutter that she first worked alongside Snowline CEO, Tim Meadows, a collaboration grounded in shared values and vision. When the opportunity arose to reunite professionally at Snowline 41/2 years ago, Tamara embraced it, eager to continue meaningful hospice work in a community-centered organization.
“The role is truly all-in, and what sustains the work is taking the time to listen ~ to staff concerns, patient stories, and moments of celebration.”
As Snowline’s Chief Clinical Officer, Tamara plays a vital role in supporting compassionate, high-quality care across all clinical disciplines. She finds deep purpose in mentoring leaders, fostering professional and personal growth among clinicians, and collaborating on innovative practices that strengthen patient and family-centered care. Her position enables her to influence both the clinical vision and the daily delivery of care, keeping her closely connected to what matters most: patients, their families, and the dedicated teams that serve them.
The role, as Tamara describes it, is truly “all-in.” One of her greatest challenges has been balancing the constant operational demands of healthcare leadership with staying grounded in the human side of hospice. Over time, that challenge has become a strength. It has reinforced her belief in shared leadership, strong teams, and the importance of listening deeply ~ to staff concerns and patient stories. These connections, she notes, are what sustain both the work and the people doing it.
What Tamara loves most about Snowline is its people. She speaks with genuine admiration for the resilience, compassion, and shared sense of purpose that define the organization. There is a deep respect across roles and a collective willingness to collaborate in service of patients and families. For Tamara, it is an honor to work alongside such dedicated professionals, and she is continually inspired by their heart, integrity, and commitment to the community.
Through her leadership and mentorship, Tamara Grigoleit embodies what it means to be a Healthcare Hero: a steady pillar whose influence is felt not only in systems and strategy, but in the lives of those cared for and those privileged to work beside her.
