Dickinson FFA’s Swamp Smokers Competition BBQ Team traveled to Klein Oak High School for our last regional cook this year. We had a great cook in preparation for our trip to state in May.

The team finished:
3rd Place Gourmet Grilled Cheese
1st Place Ribeye
5th Place Dutch Oven Dessert
4th Place Ribs
4th Place Overall Team

The Dickinson High School Ag Mechanics team went to the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo Industrial Craft Competition Presentation and Awards today. Unfortunately this year we were not able to bring home a trophy going up against some very stiff competition but did receive high praises for our project. Thank you to the ICC committee, sponsors and DISD staff for the support this year for our project. These senior students have been working very hard since October and have learned some very valuable trade skills and made many connections in the industrial and construction industries for their futures.

Tonight was Mrs. Fly’s last Dickinson FFA meeting as an Ag Teacher. She leaves on maternity leave this Friday, and will not return, and she will be missed greatly. We took a moment out of tonight’s meeting to thank her for everything she has done for our chapter - from helping the swine program explode in just a few years, to supporting her students in the classroom. Mrs. Fly (formerly known as Ms. Cook or “Cookie”) has always been there for her students, coworkers, and friends. We will miss her presence, her sass when she “tells us how the cow ate the cabbage” and how she always reminded us not to worry because “it’ll buff”. Mrs. Fly, we made a picture for you to remember us by and your officers and teaching partners have all signed a baby book for you to read to your little one when she arrives. We hope you enjoy this small token of our gratitude as we cheer you on in this new chapter of your life as the most amazing mom a daughter could ask for. We love you! WesleyJordyn Fly

The Swamp Smokers BBQ Team travelled to Bryan High School for our first competition of the year on Saturday. Some of the boys had to leave early to get back for DHS Senior Serve but Jordan and Chris were able to work together to finish the cook. We had a great first event and were able to hear our name called at awards.

1st Place Ribeye
5th Place Ribs
8th Place Overall

The team has qualified for State again!
We will have our next cook at Klein Oak HS on March 14th.

Happy FFA Week!! 🐰💙💛 One of the animals has ALREADY been found! Keep your eyes out this week for one of the FIVE wooden animal cut-outs, then bring it to H102 for a goodie bag. The rabbit is already accounted for, but we still have the lamb, goat, pig and heifer!
