Forrest “Stan” Sharkey was hopping freight trains out of Indianapolis and living under a bridge in Bismarck. By 15, he was working nights as a hotel elevator operator for just $1 a day. He still chuckles as he recalls the characters he met and the stories that came with the job—just a glimpse into the many colorful memories he shares with his trademark humor.

From those bold beginnings to serving on the front lines of WWII, Stan’s journey is nothing short of extraordinary. At 99, he continues to captivate everyone with the way he tells it.

This week at Edgewood Hawks Point:
On Tuesday we honored and celebrated our Veterans! With respect honor and gratitude, we thank you! We finished the day by watching “The Court Martial of Billy Mitchell.”
On Wednesday we were visited by the Balyeats and the Fasts to bring us music and joy to our afternoon.
Today we celebrated our November birthdays and had our monthly birthday party with music by Ernie Hecker! Great tunes Ernie!

We had a wonderful time packaging 46 boxes for the Operation Christmas Child program. Children around the world will receive these shoeboxes full of love and fun! Thank you Jodeen & Jill!

This morning we cooked up Shup Nuddla with the Knaup's! Delish!! Thank you! We also honored the saxophone this afternoon with music by Russ & Irma Fast! Happy Saxophone day!

“It started as a winter stay and moving back home in the summer, to Mott ND, you know, just to escape those frosty North Dakota temps and get a sneak peek at community life.”

From globe-trotting adventures to cozy winter days, Geno’s traveled cross-country, trekked through Alaska’s Iditarod, and has a story (or five!) for every corner of the world!

And what Geno from Edgewood Hawks Point found was her favorite destination was much closer than she imagined. “The people around Hawk’s Point make this a home for me.” Now, Geno lives as a full-time resident and lights up our days with her own poems, life lessons, and maybe even a few stories that make you laugh until you cry.

Edgewood is filled with some of the coolest world travelers. We are Edgewood.
