Tom Wadsworth Returns to Heritage on February 5



On February 5 at 2:00 p.m. at Heritage Square, Dixon historian Tom Wadsworth will present “The Battle for the Castle: The Story Behind Building Dixon’s High School in 1929.”



Over the last hundred years, thousands of DHS graduates have treasured memories of attending Dixon’s “castle” high school, but few are aware of the struggle to build the school and its unique features. This 45-minute presentation includes several rare photos and little-known details behind building Dixon’s iconic high school.



Tom Wadsworth is a nationally known speaker and writer who holds two master’s degrees and a PhD. Since 2023, he has been a local history columnist for the Dixon Telegraph and the Sterling Gazette. In recent years, dozens of audiences throughout northwestern Illinois have praised his local history presentations.

We celebrated the Chinese new year a little early and we had a great time. We had to refresh our chopstick skills and played games. We even learned how to make the symbol for blessed. A big shout out to Panda for the fortune cookies!

We had a fun time at our Blizzard Party! We started with a fun game of Draw Your Neighbor on the snowman head, tested everyone's knowledge on the winter season and ended with a huge snowball fight and DQ blizzards! Good Times!!

Hope everyone had fun bringing in the new year! We sure did! We had great entertainment by Ann Gronlund playing all of our favorite songs! Champagne toast, poppers, ballons...all to celebrate the new year. Special thanks goes out to the Sloan family for our delicious treats!We hope 2026 brings you health and happiness! Heritage Square would like to congratulate Raymond Wolf on his 30 years of Service. Since December 27th, 1995, Raymond has been a faithful and valued employee whose strong work ethic, positive attitude, and commitment to excellence have made a lasting impact. His loyalty and professionalism are truly appreciated, and his contributions have helped make Heritage Square a better place for both coworkers and the community. We thank Raymond for his outstanding service and congratulate him on his remarkable milestone!

We had a wonderful time at our Christmas Party singing Christmas Carols, opening our Secret Santa gifts, indoor snowball fun, and yummy festive Christmas punch, cookies and goodies. Hope you all have a blessed and happy holiday season to everyone from our Heritage Square family to yours!
