Flu Vaccine season is here!!!
In partnership with Dodge County Public Health.
The best way to stay healthy is simple — get vaccinated!
The flu vaccine not only protects you from getting seriously ill, but it also helps protect your loved ones, coworkers, and community — especially those who are more vulnerable, like young children, older adults, and people with chronic health conditions.

Vaccination reduces your risk of:
✅ Severe illness and hospitalization
✅ Complications such as pneumonia or worsening of chronic diseases
✅ Spreading the flu to others

Another successful event at The Center Clinic! 🎉
This time, we focused on Clinical Trials: Access to Information and Community Education.
Participants emphasized how crucial it is to understand what clinical trials are and the benefits they bring to our families and communities.
Deysi Cañon shared valuable insights about the importance of being informed — knowing where to find available studies, their purposes, and how they contribute to better health outcomes.
Juana O. moved everyone with her powerful testimony and survival story, reminding us of the real impact that access to information and participation in research can have.
We’re proud to continue creating spaces where our community can learn, share, and empower each other through knowledge and education.

🫁 Thank You for Joining Us!

We extend our sincere thanks to everyone who attended our community lecture on lung cancer prevention, held in partnership with the Minnesota Cancer Clinical Trials Network (MNCCTN).

A very special thank-you to Dr. Gustavo Cortes from Mayo Clinic for sharing his expertise and practical guidance on how we can all take steps to reduce our risk and promote lung health.

We also had the pleasure of hearing from Nurse Practitioner Zuri Cevallos, who taught us about the importance of getting good sleep to reduce stress and ultimately improve our overall well-being.

Your participation and engagement made this event a success! Together, we’re building stronger, healthier communities through education and collaboration. 💙

Living in community, promoting social connection. 🌱💚
At The Center Clinic, together with MNextension and our community, we joyfully close the cycle of our community garden. What began with seeds, today becomes a harvest: fresh vegetables, shared moments, and stronger bonds among all. 🥕🥒🍅
Thank you to every participant who put their hands to the soil! This garden is proof that when we grow together, we flourish better. 🌸✨

Latino Fest 2025 was a joyful celebration of Latin American culture and community during Hispanic Heritage Month. Families, friends, and neighbors gathered at Peace Plaza to enjoy music, dance, food, and traditions that honor Latino heritage. Organized by the Alliance of Chicanos, Hispano, Latino Americans (ACHLA), the festival highlighted the importance of celebrating together—because our culture shines brightest when shared in community.

Last week, our Community Health Worker, Mayra, spent the evening at The Center Clinic sharing preparedness basics. The class, taught entirely in Spanish, gave participants tools to create an emergency plan, build an emergency supplies kit, stay informed with alerts, and strengthen their social networks to boost resilience.

We had a wonderful turnout!

✨ Today we celebrate not only your birthday, Mayra Monarrez , but also the joy, dedication, and compassion you bring to our clinic every day. 💙
Thank you for being such an essential part of our team and for the care you give so wholeheartedly to every person you serve.

Also, we had a wonderful Clinic Night with our new Family Medicine residents. Special thanks to Dr. Oberhelman and Dr. Gonzalez for your continued support and service!

While Mom was busy helping patients, the kids (Adelyn and Caleb) were lending a hand too!
Adelyn worked hard finishing and assembling the desk — and she is one of our superstar volunteers tonight. 💪💙
Teamwork makes our clinic stronger! Sara Oberhelman

“Fighting cancer, inspiring hope.”

“José’s victory reminds us: prevention and knowledge save lives.”

One of our clinic’s missions is to advocate for disease prevention and educate on how to prevent them.
Recently, we had the privilege of hearing the testimony of Franco, who has been courageously overcoming cancer and today shares his inspiring story with us.
His journey, along with the support of his family, reminds us of the importance of information and access to health resources.
We are deeply grateful to MNCCTN for making it possible for these programs to reach our community and contribute to a healthier future for all.

Skin Cancer Prevention:

A Conversation for Our Community
Thanks to the Masonic Cancer Center pilot program, and Pablo Monterroso (medical student UMN) we gather to talk about a topic that can save lives: preventing skin cancer.

💛 Protect yourself and your loved ones:
✨ Wear sunscreen every day (SPF 30 or higher)
✨ Seek shade during peak sunlight hours
✨ Wear a hat and UV-protection sunglasses
✨ Check your skin and don’t ignore changes.

With the MNCCTN pilot program, we work to ensure our community has access to life-saving information and tools.
