Hospital Vision
To be recognized as a vital healthcare resource in the communities we serve.
Prevost Memorial Hospital is a Critical Access Hospital – a designation given to certain rural hospitals by the U.S. Government that is designed to help keep rural hospitals open and improve access to healthcare by keeping essential services in rural communities. To qualify, hospitals must be:
small (25 or fewer acute care inpatient beds),
rural (located a significant distance from another hospital),
serve patients that do not require long stays in the hospital, and
open 24 hours a day and 7 days a week to provide emergency care services
OUR PATIENT SERVICES

Additional Services
Prevost Memorial Hospital opened its doors to serve the Westbank Ascension Parish community in 1968 as a Service District Hospital, providing lifesaving services for patients with critical needs. In recent years, the hospital has made strides in improving the facilities and services available to patients, including the expansion of the Emergency Department in 2010. The hospital recently developed preliminary plans to remodel and expand areas of the hospital that have not been significantly renovated since the original construction 50 years ago. With this progress in mind, Prevost is going out into the community to share this plan and gather input on the needs and impressions of the citizens whom it serves.
The Community Outreach Project includes:
Presentations, meetings, and interviews with citizens, community groups, and local government entities
A survey of community perceptions, including priority healthcare service needs and wants
A Community Outreach Project report of results and findings.
