Lastly today, we had the honor of serving alongside the LDH (Louisiana Department of Health) team at Chateau D’Ville. Together, we brought Rural Health Awareness directly to our community—reminding our seniors that they are seen, valued, and supported.

We wrapped the day with a fun round of bingo at the nursing home, sharing laughs, connection, and joy with the residents. A simple moment, but a powerful reminder of why Rural Health matters. 💚💛

Today we celebrated National Rural Health Day with our team at West Ascension Parish Hospital!

We brought our staff together for an afternoon of learning, recognition, and appreciation. As part of the celebration, we highlighted the importance of healthcare in rural communities and the impact our team makes every single day.

During the event, we presented Rural Health Awards to honor those who have gone above and beyond in service, compassion, and dedication to our patients and our parish. Their commitment is the reason rural healthcare continues to move forward with excellence.

From education sessions to heartfelt moments of recognition, today reminded us why rural healthcare matters — and why our people are the heart of it all.

Today at the hospital, we created an educational and engaging setup to bring awareness to Diabetes & Foot Health, especially highlighting the importance of prevention, early detection, and daily care.

Our display table included:

📌 Educational Trifold Board
• Key information on how diabetes affects circulation and nerve health
• Risk factors for foot ulcers, including the statistic that 85% of amputations start with a foot ulcer
• Visual foot-shaped callouts highlighting common complications and prevention tips
• Resources from trusted diabetic health organizations

📌 Patient Handouts & Tools
We provided easy-to-read materials that patients could take home, including:
• Foot care education sheets
• “Dos & Don’ts” of diabetic foot care
• A blood glucose log
• A diabetic meal plan guide
• Practical prevention steps to reduce risk of ulcers and infections

📌 Giveaways & Supplies
• Free foot-care lotion tubes
• Branded green cups
• Brochures with quick-reference information

📌 Purpose
The goal was to empower our community with knowledge that supports early detection, better foot care habits, and overall healthier living. By offering evidence-based information in a simple, accessible format, we’re helping our patients understand the connection between diabetes management and long-term foot health outcomes.
