→Hospice

It’s not your typical 9-to-5. It’s unpredictable, challenging, and, honestly, pretty rewarding

-First stop? A patient who just had surgery. They’re nervous. You reassure them. They relax.
-Next, an elderly client who just wants to chat while you check their vitals. Sometimes, you’re their only visitor.
-Then, a kid with a chronic illness. Their parents are exhausted. You offer medical care and a little emotional support too.

Common myths about home healthcare

❌"It’s only for seniors."
Nope. People of all ages, including those recovering from surgery or living with chronic conditions, can benefit.

❌"It’s too expensive."
Not always. Many insurance plans, including Medicare, cover home healthcare services.

❌"Family members should do it instead."
That’s a tough one. Not everyone has the time, training, OR emotional capacity to be a full-time caregiver. And that’s okay.

❌"You won’t get real medical care at home."
False. Nurses, therapists, and aides bring professional care right to the patient’s door.

❌"It means giving up independence."
Actually, it’s the opposite. Staying at home with proper care can help people maintain their independence longer.

Home healthcare is about support, NOT surrender. 🤝

It’s a practical, flexible option that keeps people where they’re happiest…at home.

Why are so many nurses leaving for the U.S.?

A record-breaking number of INTERNATIONAL nurses are taking the U.S. licensure exam.
And the numbers are telling.

→28,258 Filipino BSN graduates took the U.S. exam in 2024 (by far the largest group)
→Pass rates? 54% for first-timers, 36% for repeaters 📊

→Other major nursing exporters:
-India: 5,869
-Kenya: 3,740
-Nepal: 2,662
-South Korea: 2,636

But here’s the real question…
🤔Why aren’t U.S. nursing schools producing enough nurses?
The demand is there.
The jobs are there.
The pay isn’t bad.

So why are we relying on international nurses so much?

One possible reason: nursing school bottlenecks. 🏫💰
❗The U.S. has more applicants than open spots.
❗Nursing programs are expensive and highly selective.
❗Many would-be nurses can’t afford the time or tuition.

Meanwhile, countries like the Philippines and India actively train nurses for export.
It’s a business model.

House Bill 2748 is stirring up a big conversation about the future of nursing in the age of AI

Here’s what’s going on:
👉A tech company just introduced an AI program that can do tasks usually handled by nurses
👉 It’s priced at $9/hour, sparking debates on whether AI can replace human healthcare workers
👉This move raises important questions about patient care “How much of nursing should be handed over to machines?”

🚫House Bill 2748 is trying to draw the line.
It states that only humans can be nurses, protecting the things machines just can't replicate: empathy, critical thinking, and the deep connections nurses form with patients ❤️

But, are we overestimating the role of emotions in healthcare?

3 ways to go from medical assistant to registered nurse (And why you should think twice BEFORE choosing the obvious)

Here are the 3 main routes:
1️⃣Associate’s Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Quick and relatively cheap, but some employers still prefer a BSN.

2️⃣Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)

Saving money with your... ADN

Nursing school can be crazy expensive, but here's a twist: have you ever considered going for an ADN first? 🩺

Here’s where your ADN comes in.
🔹What is it? It’s an Associate’s Degree in Nursing.
🔹Why do it? Shorter, cheaper, and you still get to be an RN. ‍
🔹How long? As little as 18 months, but depends on a bunch of things.

With the ADN, you can start working as a nurse and later go back for your BSN (if you want to advance in your career)

What about the cost?
→ADN costs: $10,000 to $40,000.
→BSN costs: ….Even more.

Is the ADN worth it? Will you regret not going straight for the BSN?

Decisions, decisions… Which path would you choose?

Did you know that nurses can get their loans forgiven by the state?

Each state has its own program, but the requirements and eligibility vary.

Examples: ⤵
–Alaska’s SHARP program offers up to $27,000/year for RNs
–Louisiana will throw in $15,000/year if you commit for 3 years
–Some states even added extra forgiveness programs due to pandemic shortages 🙌

But it’s not as easy as it sounds.
Different states have different residency requirements.
(So, you might have to pack your bags and move.)

🧳 Also, some programs have strict work commitments.
You can’t just dip after a year. ⏳

Why do more nurses overlook these programs?
