Sixty years ago, Dr. Jack Geiger and Dr. Count Gibson opened the Columbia Point Health Center, now Harbor Health's Geiger Gibson Community Health Center, in . It was the first community health center in the country, built on the belief that better healthcare access could help communities overcome poverty and gain greater voice in their own wellbeing.

Harbor Health’s CEO Susan Yee and Board of Directors member Mike Mecenas joined leaders from our fellow Massachusetts community health centers on visits to U.S. Representative Bill Keating and Representative Stephen F. Lynch to thank them for their on-going advocacy and support for local healthcare access. The visits were part of the National Association of Community Health Centers' Policy and Issues Forum this week in Washington D.C., which included a 60th anniversary gala celebrating the opening of the first community health centers in the country, Geiger Gibson Community Health Center and Delta Health Center, Inc. Susan was also a featured speaker at the gala!

Call the health center at (617) 288-1140 to make an appointment! We also have a pharmacy right at the health center so you can pick up any prescriptions you need in the same place, no need to make an extra stop. LOOKING FOR A NEW PRIMARY CARE PROVIDER? Harbor Health Services, Inc. is pleased to be co-hosting a very special event with the Massachusetts League of Community Health Centers honoring the 60th Anniversary of community health centers 🎉!! The Columbia Point Health Center (now known as Geiger Gibson Community Health Center) became the first operating community health center in the US when Drs. Jack Geiger and Count Gibson opened it in 1965. Today MORE THAN 1 MILLION PEOPLE IN MASSACHUSETTS and OVER 30 MILLION NATIONWIDE rely on community health centers for primary care and other health services.

EVENT DETAILS: December 11, 5 PM – 8 PM, at the Edward M. Kennedy Institute for the US Senate in . The event will feature panel discussions with community health leaders and photo journalists and an award ceremony.

With so many of our neighbors looking for help with food, the Food Pantry at Harbor Health is once again working hard to fill 300 Thanksgiving grocery bags with a variety of dry goods, canned goods, and other items for holiday meals. FLU SEASON is almost here!! Geiger Gibson Community Health Center at 250 Mt Vernon Street in is hosting a community flu shot clinic on Thursday, October 16, 2 pm - 4 pm. Shots are available for all ages including kids age 6 months and up. ALL ARE WELCOME!! You do not have to be a patient at Geiger Gibson to get a flu shot during our community clinic. IMPORTANT REMINDER: Our pharmacy is open to YOU!! You do not have to be a patient at the health center to get your prescriptions filled at our pharmacy.
