Hi, I’m Chuck—66 years old and a runner for more than 30 years. In 2026, I’ll be running the Boston Marathon—my third marathon—to raise funds for the Heather Abbott Foundation, which helps amputees live full, active lives by providing specialized prosthetic devices not typically covered by insurance.

This year’s race is especially meaningful to me. I’ll be running with a bib generously given by Roseann Sdoia, a survivor of the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing and sister of a close friend. Her courage and determination inspire me deeply, and it’s an honor to run in her name.

Running has always been a gift in my life, and through this marathon, I hope to give back—helping others regain their strength, mobility, and confidence. Thank you for your support!

February is National Heart Health month! ❤️

Did you know....? Physical therapy can play in important part in your heart health after injury or surgery.

If you’re regularly active, such as going for a run or swimming laps, you may not need help from your physical therapist. But 3 out of 4 adults aren’t exercising regularly. For those folks, a physical therapist may be just the person they need. It’s not uncommon for people to become more active on their own then agitate pain or an old injury somewhere such as their back, hip, shoulder, knee or ankle…..then never get back to their old routine. A physical therapist can help evaluate an old injury, new and/or re-occurring pain, then design a specialized treatment plan to help you return to regular activity safely and reach your goals. Cardiovascular exercise is any vigorous exercise that increases your heart rate to strengthen heart and blood vessels. ❤️

Our Physical therapists can help to safely increase activity levels after injury, surgery, or other medical conditions. Whatever barriers to physical activity exist, a physical therapist can help you work to overcome them. As movement experts, physical therapists are trained to deal with a variety of conditions and are the most qualified professionals to help you feel and move better!

🌟Welcome to the Team, Ashley Matteson🌟

We are thrilled to welcome Ashley Matteson to the Dorset Physio Family as our new Patient Care Coordinator.

Ashley brings a new perspective to our team as a long term former patient, she understands the importance Physical Therapy plays in healing both post-op and post-injury. Her passion for helping others makes her a great addition to our team.

When not in the clinic Ashley enjoys spending time with her husband and 2 children along with her 2 Saint Bernards. When the weather is warm you can find her running the grill’s in her outdoor kitchen for family and friends.

Ashley’s favorite quote is “Greet everyone with a smile, your smile could change their whole day!”

Info Spotlight: Physical Therapy Specialists 💡
What is a Board-Certified Clinical Specialist?

Almost every physical therapist in practice has orthopedic experience and some may claim they are a ‘specialist’. But the truth is that most people receiving physical therapy haven’t really seen a “true” Board Certified Physical Therapist. 🧑‍⚕️

Just as there are many areas of medicine that physicians can specialize in (neurology, cardiology, nephrology, orthopedics, dermatology, etc.), the American Physical Therapy Association has established 7 specialty areas in which physical therapists can be board certified. Only 10% of the physical therapists in the U.S. are Board Certified in a specialty, which requires demonstrated experience in the specialty field and a passing score on an extensive written exam. This allows the Board Certified Specialist to display that they have a greater breadth of knowledge and skills in a particular area of practice than their peers.

So next time you are looking for someone with true knowledge in physical therapy, you want someone who is a Board Certified Clinical Specialist thru the APTA Directory:
