Crazy! Please be aware folks!
Important Public Safety Notice from the Houston County Sheriff’s Office
The Houston County Sheriff’s Office has received multiple reports regarding individuals posing as members of our agency and contacting family members of inmates at the Houston County Jail. These scammers are falsely claiming they can assist with getting individuals released from jail, particularly those facing “no bond” charges.
Please be aware that no member of the Houston County Sheriff’s Office will ever call you for such purposes.
We have recently received complaints about an individual posing as several different members of our agency and asking for money to resolve fictitious arrest warrants. To be clear, these individuals do not represent the Houston County Sheriff’s Office.
Here’s what you need to know:
• The Houston County Sheriff’s Office does not make phone calls demanding payment for arrest warrants or release from jail.
• A legitimate law enforcement officer will never call you and demand payment, gift cards, wire transfers, or any form of money to “resolve” a warrant.
• If someone claims to be law enforcement and asks for money, hang up immediately—it’s a scam.
• If you have an outstanding warrant, it will not be handled via phone calls or gift cards.
Please remain vigilant and help spread the word to protect others in our community. If you or someone you know receives a similar call, report it immediately to the Houston County Sheriff’s Office. 334-677-4808.
Stay safe, stay alert, and thank you for helping us keep Houston County safe.
