According to a recent report by WSB-TV, a Douglasville father, 23-year-old Geordy Josue Hernandez Ventura, was arrested and charged with murder, aggravated assault and cruelty to children after the death of his 3‑month‑old child right before Christmas.

Police were called to an apartment on W. Stewart Mill Road on December 22 for a report of the baby having trouble breathing, and the infant later died at the hospital. More information can be found by clicking the link below.

‼️️📢THE DOUGLASVILLE POLICE DEPARTMENT IS AWARE OF THE UNAUTHORIZED SCHEDULED JANUARY 3 'ARBOR PLACE TAKEOVER' POSTED ON SOCIAL MEDIA📢‼️
We are investigating who is sending these messages and pushing these events.
For any violation of law, arrests will be made. We are aware of this unauthorized event and want everyone to understand the consequences of possible charges. Our officer's presence will be known, and we will be out in force and monitoring the surrounding areas.
Parents, please step up and be proactive with your youth. We are making sure all of our citizens are safe and will not tolerate any violation of law and have attached a copy of the Youth Es**rt Policy (YEP). Although this event does not specifically state ages expected to attend, everyone is being advised that we expect everyone to obey the law as we are fostering a safe environment.
The YEP is a proactive measure to create a safer shopping environment for all, particularly for minors. It is a reminder for parents and guardians to actively supervise their children while shopping at the mall.
As always, if you see something, say something. Dial 9-1-1 in case of an emergency.

Douglasville Grocery Employee Indicted for Surveillance Charges

Recently WSB-TV Channel 2 News reported that a Food Depot employee, Trevion Brown, has been indicted by a Douglas County grand jury for unlawfully spying on a woman in the store’s restroom on February 11, 2024. The Food Depot is located at 3697 Highway 5 in Douglasville.

According to the arrest warrant, Brown entered the women’s restroom and looked over a stall while the woman was inside. He faces felony charges of unlawful eavesdropping, surveillance, and Peeping Tom charges.

A new chapter for fast-casual dining arrives in Douglasville on Thursday, September 18, 2025, as Chick-fil-A formally opens its doors at 9320 The Landing Drive.

The highly anticipated opening event begins at 6 a.m., welcoming residents and guests to experience the restaurant’s signature hospitality led by Owner-Operator Jordan Phillips, a Douglasville native and seasoned leader within Chick-fil-A.

Guests dressed in cow-themed apparel or accessories will receive one complimentary entrée or kid’s meal through the drive-thru or walk-up window, with selections including breakfast or lunch favorites—while supplies last.

The location, represents the brand’s latest approach to drive-thru service and community engagement, while also creating approximately 100 new jobs for Douglasville residents.(chick-fil-A Press Room, 2025).

DOUGLASVILLE, Ga. — Douglasville celebrated its 150th birthday this weekend with a downtown festival that brought families, friends, and longtime residents together for an afternoon of music, food, and community pride. The celebration, held from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday, centered at the Greystone Amphitheater, where crowds gathered under sunny skies to mark the city’s historic milestone.
