This is mostly to my fellow cleaners: I see your posts in frustrations. I feel you not wanting to work for less than a your worth. Even though we are helpers we need to be considered too.
To my dear clients - you know the value I bring to you - this has nothing to do with us 😉 This is for my pros struggling to find their voice - this industry is challenging, so for those who aren't in it, you don't know.
It's time to talk about the real value of professional cleaning and put an end to the disrespect faced by those who provide it. You wouldn't bat an eye at paying $300 for a haircut/color, a service that takes a couple of hours, because you value the skill and the result. You understand the expertise involved in transforming your look.
So why is it that when it comes to the cleanliness and sanitation of your MOST important space – your home or business – the value is constantly questioned and the service providers are often treated with a shocking lack of respect?
Let's be clear: professional cleaning is not "just cleaning." It is a physically demanding, skilled trade that requires knowledge of products, techniques, and an incredible eye for detail. We spend hours, often on our hands and knees, using specialized equipment and putting in strenuous labor to create a healthy and truly clean environment for you.
The benefits of a professionally cleaned space go far beyond just looking tidy. A truly clean and sanitary environment contributes to:
Improved Physical Health: Reducing allergens, dust mites, mold, and germs that can cause illness and exacerbate respiratory issues.
Enhanced Mental Well-being: A clean and organized space reduces stress, improves focus, and promotes a sense of calm and well-being.
Preservation of Property: Regular, professional cleaning extends the life of your carpets, flooring, fixtures, and surfaces, saving you money on costly replacements down the road.
You might pay $125-$300 for a couch or floor cleaning that takes an hour or two, and see the immediate, tangible result. Professional whole-space cleaning involves meticulous attention to countless surfaces and hidden areas, requiring significant time and physical exertion to achieve that deep level of clean that truly impacts your health and environment.
When you undervalue and underpay cleaners, you not only disrespect the hard work and skill involved, but you also increase the likelihood of rushed, subpar work. Then you're left frustrated and often end up paying more to someone else to fix it.
To my fellow cleaners: Know your worth. Value your time, your skill, and the incredible service you provide. Don’t work for anyone who does not understand or respect the value you bring.
To everyone else: Please stop devaluing this essential industry. Recognize the physical labor, expertise, and significant benefits that professional cleaners provide. Pay fair wages, offer respect, and appreciate the healthy and clean space you get in return. It's an investment in your health, your well-being, and your property.
Best encouragements and Happy Cleaning.
