Two decades ago, 2,606 souls lay down, expecting a regular day ahead. 246 anticipated skies as their backdrop, 343 firefighters braced for another day of service, 60 police officers awaited their dawn patrol, and 8 paramedics took a breather before their morning shift. Tragically, September 11, 2001, did not dawn as just another day. In an instant, everything shifted.
