It’s always nice to know that there are options available when it comes to protecting yourself in a social setting. With technology continuing to develop, the range of products used to detect a drug spiked drink is growing. Although these products may allow some people to feel more comfortable when going out, it is important to ask the question, “Why is it a person’s responsibility to be prepared for these kinds of situations?” With date r**e drugs being a truly scary reality, we must place emphasis on teaching people that sexual assaultit is not ok and also on educating people on the importance of consent.

Now that I am in college, I have sadly witnessed the popularity of date-r**e drugs in a campus setting. That being said, I think the products created because of this issue are helpful to those who want to protect themselves but It’s important again to emphasize, the rapistis at fault - in all situations! If you have been the victim of a drug facilitated sexual assault, know that is is NOT YOUR FAULT!

If you’re a survivor or you know anyone who needs support, we are here for you. Our confidential hotline (908) 526-7444 is open 24-hours a day. You are not alone!

Statistics are never fun to learn about, but it’s statistics such as these that help to remind us of why we do the work we do.
As advocates, we are here to educate, to uplift, and most importantly, to prevent. Shining a light on facts like these can serve as a catalyst by inspiring people to have change provoking conversations.
The more people we can educate on these facts, the more people we can inspire to have these conversations, and the smaller these statistics will get.
We can do anything, if we do it together!
If you’re a survivor or you know anyone who needs support, we are here for you. Our confidential hotline (908) 526-7444 is open 24-hours a day. You are not alone!

Sexual violence can be a very lonely experience for many, but you are not alone.
Chanel Miller, American writer and artist, writes this quote in her book "Know my Name" where she recalls her experience while facing her assaulter in hopes of empowering other victims and survivors.
As we know, many people have been sexually assaulted in the U.S. While that might be a not-so-happy fact, we can find peace in the fact that many survivors and victims are living fruitful lives. If they can do it, you can too!
If you’re a survivor or you know anyone who needs support, we are here for you. Our confidential hotline (908) 526-7444 is open 24-hours a day. You are not alone!

Some school districts may believe they can inoculate themselves against legal action and bad press by simply denying or ignoring sexual harassment and assault in their schools.
Although staff at these schools may claim to take sexual harassment and violence seriously, as evidenced, they say, by their written anti-harassment policies, too often they are unprepared to respond appropriately to real incidents.
School administrators can be woefully ignorant of their Title IX responsibilities. Ignorance, the fear of liability, and concerns about public opinion can cause schools to downplay, ignore, or deny altogether reports of sexual harassment/assault and subsequent retaliation against victims.

Do you know your rights at school under Title IX?

Protective factors may lessen the likelihood of sexual violence victimization or perpetration. These factors can exist at individual, relational, community, and societal levels.

Here are some examples:
👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Families where caregivers work through conflicts peacefully
💙 Emotional health and connectedness
🎓 Academic achievement
😰 Empathy and concern for how one’s actions affect others

How will you be protective? ⬇️
