If you haven’t met Katera Welfley yet at Toland-Herzig, we are excited to introduce you to one of the newest members of our funeral director staff.

Katera may already be a familiar face to many, as she has been a valued part of our facility management team for the past three years. A graduate of Dover High School (Class of 2005), she later earned her Bachelor of Arts in English from Kent State University.

Katera met her husband, Dan, while in high school, and they were married in 2008. She spent ten years as a dedicated stay-at-home mom to their two sons, Jackson and Owen. As her boys have grown, she felt called to begin a new career path, and we are grateful she chose to continue that journey with us.

Now serving her funeral director apprenticeship, Katera has already become an incredible addition to our team. Her compassion, attentiveness, and genuine care for others make her a natural in serving the families who walk through our doors. She attends NewPointe Community Church and has, for the past 10 years, donated meals to the homeless shelter with a group from the First Christian Church. She also enjoys being involved in her children’s school activities at Dover schools.

In her spare time, Katera enjoys sourdough baking, reading, walking her dog Milo, and spending time with her family.

We are proud to have her as part of our funeral home family and look forward to the many ways she will continue to serve.

Who We Are

At Toland-Herzig, we are equally comfortable planning services to be conducted within our own facilities or working in cooperation with area churches and other venues. We will be glad to assist and make calling hour and service suggestions based on our considerable experience. But our commitment is to you and your personal preferences. While some might discourage certain funeral customs and traditions, dismissing them as old fashioned or as needless ritual, we encourage you to plan arrangements that meet your specific needs and wishes. We believe tradition, after all, is to be respected. Early in 2005 we installed a Human and a Pet Crematory at our Dover Funeral Home to better serve the needs of area families and their pets. This crematory is licensed and inspected by the State of Ohio, meticulously maintained, and operated by a highly-trained staff certified by the Cremation Association of North America. Your loved one is treated with the utmost respect and never leaves our care. You are assured that the cremated remains you receive are those of your loved one – and that peace-of-mind is priceless. Our Dover location has also become quite a tourist attraction with the growth of our Famous Endings Museum, the world's largest privately owned collection of funeral memorabilia from services of the famous. We had the honor of being Ohio's 2010 enshrinee into the National Funeral Directors Association's Hall of Excellence.
