Plinko, Gift Bags, Sunscreen Raffle, oh my! Skin Cancer Awareness Month at Delaware Dermatology is off to a fun start! ☀️
As research has shown, by the age of 70 one in five Americans will have developed some form of skin cancer. Three common types of skin cancer include: Basal Cell Carcinoma (BCC), Squamous Cell Carcinoma (SCC), and Melanoma. Regardless of one’s diagnosis, however, early detection and treatment of skin cancer has a much higher likelihood of successful treatment. While this month’s promotions certainly pave the way for a fun dermatology experience, we feel that it is also important to highlight their main goals: to bring awareness to the various forms of skin cancer, and to promote early detection, treatment, and prevention.
During this year’s Skin Cancer Awareness Month, one of Delaware Dermatology’s missions is to provide greater access to skin cancer screenings. As such, Dr. Andrews is happy to once again be partnering with Bayhealth Medical Center, of which he is on staff, to provide two completely free skin cancer screenings. These screenings will be held on Friday, May 6 from 9 a.m. until 12 p.m. at Bayhealth Cancer Center, Sussex Campus, and on Monday, May 9 from 9 a.m. until 12 p.m. at Bayhealth Cancer Center, Kent Campus. Having initiated the free skin cancer screenings through Bayhealth Medical Center in 1986 and conducted such each year since, Dr. Andrews truly cherishes this annual opportunity to be able to give back to the community. For more information or to pre-register for a screening, please call Bayhealth Cancer Institute Community Outreach Coordinator Katie Killen at (302) 744-6562.
