We are extremely proud to celebrate an incredible accomplishment for our Behavioral Health Urgent Care Team: John Carroll, Star Jones, and Tanya Shelley.
Last night, alongside other members of our care community, they were officially sworn in by Sheriff Orvis Campbell at the Tuscarawas County Sheriff's Office as members of the "Critical Incident Stress Management" team.
CISM, often called "psychological first aid,” is a support system for individuals who experience traumatic events, especially first responders, law enforcement, fire, EMS, healthcare workers, and others who are regularly exposed to crisis. It helps those individuals in processing the traumatic incident, understand their stress reactions, and reduce the risk of long-term emotional impact.
CISM services can include:
• Immediate “defusings” within hours of an event
• Formal debriefings in the days that follow
• Grief and loss support
• Crisis briefings for larger groups
• Ongoing support and pre-crisis education to build resilience
This work strengthens the people who serve our community during its most difficult moments.
Please join us in congratulating John, Star, Tanya, and all those sworn in last night for stepping into this important role. We’re grateful for their leadership and commitment to caring for others.
