🕯️ In Memoriam – Past Chief Clyde Luton Jr. 🕯️
It is with deep sadness that the Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company announces the passing of Past Chief Clyde Luton Jr., a devoted member and leader whose legacy of service spans generations.
Past Chief Luton proudly served the Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company since 1956.
Throughout his distinguished career, he held numerous positions within the company, including Treasurer, Rescue Captain, Third, Second, and First Assistant Chief, and ultimately Fire Chief, a role he served in for four years.
Beyond Magnolia, Past Chief Luton was a respected leader across Kent County and the State of Delaware. He served as President of the Kent County Fire Chief’s Association and was elected President Emeritus of the Kent County Fireman’s Association in 1974. He also served for over 12 years on the State Fire Prevention Commission and was widely recognized as one of the premier EMS Instructors at the Delaware State Fire School.
His commitment to public safety extended further through his service on the SERC Commission and as a member of the Kent County LEPC, all while employed at the Playtex Corporation.
In addition to his fire service, Past Chief Luton proudly served our country as a Sergeant in the United States Air Force.
Past Chief Clyde Luton Jr.’s dedication, leadership, and mentorship helped shape the Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company into what it is today. His impact will never be forgotten.
Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched.
Rest easy, Chief. Your watch has ended. 🚒🇺🇸
