Did you know?

Local data shows that 25% of Stewart County 12th graders report using ma*****na at least once in their lifetime, and the average age of first use among local youth is just 13.5 years old.

Early ma*****na use can affect the developing brain. According to the CDC, ma*****na use during adolescence may impact memory, attention, learning, and decision-making, and early use is linked to a higher risk of substance use problems later in life.

Helping young people delay or avoid substance use is one of the most important ways we can protect their health and future.

Many people believe that if a medication is prescribed by a doctor, it’s safe for anyone to take. In reality, prescription medications are prescribed based on a person’s specific health needs. Taking someone else’s medication or using a prescription differently than directed can be dangerous and may lead to addiction, overdose, or other serious health risks.

Always take medications exactly as prescribed and never share prescriptions with others.
