One of the biggest surprises for many families is that speech therapy doesn’t look like “drills” or worksheets, especially for young children.

At Beyond Pediatric Therapy, speech sessions are designed to feel fun, motivating, and meaningful because children learn language best through play and connection.

Speech therapy isn’t just about saying sounds clearly, it’s about helping children connect with the people and world around them.

Early speech and language skills are the foundation for so much, including:

Meet the Staff Monday | Speech Therapy Spotlight 🗣️💙

This week, we’re excited to highlight Speech Therapy at Beyond Pediatric Therapy, and we couldn’t start without introducing one of our leaders in this area: Meghan McCurnin, our Lead Speech-Language Pathologist.

Meghan has been with Beyond for nearly 4½ years, and during that time she has played an essential role in supporting children and families across a wide range of communication needs. She helps children build the speech and language skills that allow them to connect, express themselves, and thrive in everyday life.

As our Lead SLP, Meghan not only provides exceptional care to the families she serves, but also supports our therapy team through mentorship, collaboration, and a deep commitment to high-quality, child-centered therapy.

Families love Meghan for her ability to meet children where they are, celebrate every milestone, and make therapy sessions engaging, meaningful, and fun.

This Valentine’s week, we’re celebrating the love that goes into helping children grow, thrive, and gain independence through Occupational Therapy.

We asked our OT team a simple question:
“What do you love most about helping children and families?”

Answers: I love that look of pride when a kiddo is able to accomplish something they couldn't do before.

I think one of my fav things is ensuring parents that they’re not alone - a lot of parents come and they feel isolated or confused and us as therapist get to provide the education and support they need to feel more confident when carrying over in the home setting.
My favorite thing is the smile a child gets when they do something new and independent for the first time. That smile hits different, that's not a thank you for the praise. That's a smile that says I'm proud, confident and independent and those smiles bring you to tears.

I love that I can be a safe place for kids and families. No judgment- just learning new skills through play, education, and reassurance. I enjoy creating resources, writing letters of medical necessity, and discussing/attending IEPs- anything to help kids and their families' lives become safer and more functional.

Their answers reflect what OT is truly about, supporting everyday skills, building confidence, and walking alongside families through every step of the journey.

Because at Beyond Pediatric Therapy, love isn’t just a holiday theme, it’s shown in the care, encouragement, and connection we bring to each session.

Meet the Staff Monday | Love in Action at Beyond 💗

As we head into Valentine’s Day week, we’re focusing on what “love” truly looks like in pediatric therapy, and for us, love is shown through support, leadership, and dedication to helping children thrive.

This week, we’re excited to spotlight Macy, our Clinic Manager and the very first Occupational Therapist at Beyond Pediatric Therapy.

Macy has been with Beyond for almost five years, and from the very beginning, she played a huge role in building and growing our OT department. Her passion for helping children develop the skills they need for everyday life helped shape the services and supports we provide to families today.

Through her leadership, commitment to quality care, and genuine heart for both families and staff, Macy has mentored clinicians, strengthened our team, and helped our clinics grow in meaningful ways.

Now serving as our Clinic Manager, she continues to lead with compassion, organization, and a deep understanding of what it takes to support both our families and our therapists.

We are so grateful for everything Macy has poured into Beyond. She is a beautiful example of what “love in action” looks like every single day. 💙

Success Story Spotlight: Hudson ✨

When Hudson first came to us in August, he was experiencing feeding difficulties and oral dysfunction. Through a holistic, multidisciplinary approach, strong collaboration among his care team, and an incredible village at home, Hudson began making steady, meaningful progress.

Over time, Hudson reached the milestone of graduating from feeding therapy. 💛 Along the way, he and his mom built a successful breastfeeding journey, and today Hudson is confidently eating solids like a champ. 🥄💪

We are so proud of Hudson, his mom, and everyone who supported this journey. Stories like this remind us how powerful a whole-child, whole-family approach can be.
