Proactive is going on a preventative antibiotic for tick bites by a deer tick in a Lyme endemic area. Also get the tick tested if possible and that can help your health care provider determine the best approach. The best way to not get Lyme is to make sure you reduce the risk of getting a tick on you at all.

Many are saying this is the worse October ever for deer ticks! People are finding them on their body when they go walking/running or hiking even with precautions. So be careful! It's not fun taking a prophylaxis antibiotic after a deer tick bite in an area endemic for Lyme but Lyme and co-infections are far worse!

So, wear light-colored long pants, Wear long socks that can go up a way on the pant leg. Wear long sleeve light tops. Hair under a hat. AND spray your feet, legs and clothing with a tick repellent. Wear two layers and remove outer gear as soon as you can after your walk or hike. Tick check, shower, tick check.

We are a medically supervised weight loss center. Weight loss is achievable! You need a combination of a good meal plan, learning new behaviors and weight loss medications for the right candidate to give you a jump start. You don't need to be on weight loss medications forever like some think. We have locations in Dover and Conway NH.

The best way to prevent or stop progression of chronic diseases such as diabetes type 2, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, obesity and even most sleep apnea, is through changes in diet, lifestyle changes, exercise and yes, weight loss.

Marie Veselsky, registered dietitian, coordinator and patient advocate at NH Integrated Health Care had Lyme in 2005 and testified before the State Senate in NH (in 2010) to allow doctors to prescribe longer term antibiotics if needed for Lyme. Back when Marie got sick many people did not get diagnosed properly with Lyme or receive appropriate treatment. Marie went almost 1 year before being diagnosed with Lyme but went on to get well and ended up running the Mount Washington Road Race 4 times!
