Dr. David E. Schmidt Jr is pleased to announce his retirement as of December 31 2022. He would like to thank all of his patients for the years of loyalty and will miss all of his patients.

These are the characteristics of skin damage that doctors look for when diagnosing and classifying melanomas.
Asymmetry – Melanoma is often asymmetrical, so the shape isn’t uniform.
Border – Melanoma often has edges that aren’t well defined or are irregular in shape.
Color – Melanoma lesions are often more than one color or shade. Benign moles are typically one color.
Diameter – Melanoma growths usually are more extensive than 6mm in diameter, which is about the diameter of a standard pencil.
Evolution – Melanoma will often change characteristics, such as size, shape or color. Unlike most benign moles, melanoma tends to change over time.
If you have a mole or skin growth, watch it for signs of changes. If you notice any of the ABCDEs of melanoma, make an appointment right away to be evaluated.

Juvederm, an injectable filler, is used to soften deep folds and reduce wrinkles in the faces of patients. Juvederm’s prime use is in removing nasolabial folds, or “smile lines,” and as a lip augmentation agent, and to fill in hollow places and scars on the face. The mid-face is an essential component of an attractive face. With the aging process, the fatty tissue that normally drapes over the cheekbones can begin to sag with gravity. The result is less prominent cheekbones, and a droopy fold of skin and fat between the nose and the cheek.
