Know the Signs. Take Control. Live Well.

Diabetes affects millions of Americans, but with awareness and healthy habits, it can be managed and even prevented.

Medicine has needed to get creative in order to address the shortage of primary care providers. The Tuscarawas Clinic for the Working Uninsured has been here…in our community… with our very own community’s providers.. financially supported by our community …since 2009! Amazon One Medical, a health care service subsidiary of Amazon, opened its first primary care office in Northeast Ohio on Wednesday, Oct. 29, through a partnership with the Cleveland Clinic.

The new Amazon One Medical office is located in Avon at 36040 Detroit Road and is the company’s first office in the region. The company plans to establish a second location in Shaker Heights, located at 20300 Farnsleigh Road, by early January 2026, according to a news release.

"Primary care is the foundation of comprehensive health care, and we’re excited to expand access to these services with our first office to serve Northeast Ohio residents," said Dr. Pooja Kamath, office medical director of Amazon One Medical, in a news release.

The health care arm of Amazon was formed from a $3.9 billion acquisition of primary care provider One Medical in 2023. The e-commerce company established partnerships with health systems across the U.S. to fuel its growth, Crain’s previously reported.

Over the last two years, Amazon One Medical has expanded its footprint, currently owning and operating over 240 offices across more than 20 U.S. regions, the company said in an email.

🎀 October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month 🎀

This month, we’re reminded of the power of early detection. Regular screenings, knowing your body, and speaking up when something feels “off” can make all the difference.

Breast cancer is most treatable when found early, and that starts with awareness. Take time this month to schedule a mammogram, perform self-exams, and encourage the women in your life to do the same.

Let’s honor survivors, support those in treatment, and remember those we’ve lost by taking action for ourselves and for one another.
