What if the best way to end the week was simply to rest?

This Friday, join us for Candlelight Restorative Yoga and Yoga Nidra at Yoga Among Friends. Beneath the soft glow of candlelight and the March Worm Moon, you’ll settle into gently supported restorative postures that calm the nervous system and release tension.

The evening closes with Yoga Nidra, a guided meditation often called yogic sleep, helping the body rest deeply while the mind softens into stillness.

Students often leave feeling calm, grounded, and ready for the weekend.

There’s something honest about early March.
The trees are still bare. The landscape hasn’t quite turned. And yet, the light lingers a little longer each evening.

In her newest reflection, Stillness Before the Bloom, Laura writes about honoring the quiet season before visible growth — the rooting, the listening, the steady presence that makes change possible.

If you’ve been sensing something shifting beneath the surface, this piece may feel like a companion.

Sometimes the bravest thing we do isn’t pushing forward — it’s returning.

This week on the blog, Kylie Grogan reflects on the quiet courage it takes to begin again — to step back onto the mat without comparison or pressure, and to meet yourself exactly as you are.

If you’ve been considering returning to practice, trying something new, or simply softening expectations, her words may resonate.

Some teachers enter your life not with a loud introduction, but with a presence you feel before you understand it.

This week on the blog, we’re sharing a Teacher Spotlight on Steve “Stony” Hallenbeck—a longtime musician and audiologist whose yoga teaching is rooted in listening: to breath, to sound, and to the quiet signals of the body.

Stony’s approach to yoga is invitational and accessible, with an emphasis on nervous-system settling, thoughtful pacing, and curiosity rather than effort. On Saturday mornings, he and Marla Mothershead alternate teaching Foundations Flow, a class designed to return to basics with steadiness and care—a supportive place to begin (or begin again).
