This week, we’re celebrating two incredible members — Nancy and Mark — who have been part of the Marino’s community since January 2014.

After more than a decade of training with us, they’re heading off to start a new chapter in South Carolina.

In that time, they have logged a combined 1,967 workouts. 💪

From day one, they’ve embodied what our community is all about: showing up, doing the work, and supporting others along the way.
Nancy and Mark, thank you for being such a big part of our story — and for letting us be part of yours.

We’ll miss you both, but we know you’ll keep moving, lifting, and inspiring wherever you go. ❤️

Have you read Let Them by Mel Robbins?

If not, here’s a quick recap of the main idea:

You don’t have to control or change other people. When you “let them” do what they want — instead of stressing, overanalyzing, or trying to manage their choices — you free yourself from unnecessary frustration, disappointment, and wasted energy.

It’s not easy, but with practice, you’ll feel freer and live better.

Your step count isn’t just a number… it’s your life in motion. 🚶‍♀️

Every step tells a story:

👣 Walking your dog
👣 Playing with kids or grandkids
👣 Exploring a new city
👣 Catching up with a friend on a walk
👣 Moving through your day with energy

Getting your step count isn’t just about checking a box — it’s about living fully… living better.

Rest Days = Kintsugi for Your Muscles

In Japanese pottery, there’s an art called Kintsugi: when a piece breaks, it’s repaired with gold, highlighting the cracks instead of hiding them. The result? The piece becomes stronger and more valuable because of its repairs.

Your muscles work the same way. Training creates tiny “cracks” (microtears). Rest days are where the repair happens — the body “fills the cracks with gold,” rebuilding the muscle stronger than before.

Skipping rest doesn’t make you tougher. It just leaves the cracks unfilled.

Who Inspires You to Live Better?

I grew up in a pretty unhealthy household. My mom had type 2 diabetes, hypertension, congestive heart failure, and a ton of unmanaged stress. She suffered multiple strokes and spent the last few years of her life in and out of the hospital. She passed away at the young age of 67.

I believe she did her best with what she had. But in my last memories of her, I remember thinking she looked and carried herself as if she was much older than someone in their 60s.
When I come to work, I’m often struck by the contrast between my mom’s health and the clients we coach every day. The difference is night and day.

If you asked me who inspires me, my answer would be simple: the Marino’s community.

They are living proof that doing the work… works. Proof that it’s possible to:

hike Machu Picchu at 80 years old
run a marathon in all 50 states
compete in golf tournaments
bounce back quickly after a knee or hip replacement

(Yes, these are all real examples of what our clients have accomplished!)

Most importantly, they’re proof that it’s possible to keep doing the activities that bring you joy — no matter your age.
That’s what inspires me.

So now I’ll turn the question back to you:

A black-and-white photo is really made up of more grey than anything else. Fitness works the same way — it’s rarely as simple as “always do this” or “never do that.”

No matter what you’ve read online, exercises don’t belong on a universal “Do” or “Do Not” list. What’s safe and effective for one person might not be the best choice for another.

That’s why context matters. And that’s why individualized coaching makes all the difference.

Strong today = strong tomorrow. 💪

Here are 5 reasons why strength training is non-negotiable after 40:
1️⃣ It slows age-related muscle loss
2️⃣ Keeps bones strong & resilient
3️⃣ Helps metabolism stay active
4️⃣ Lowers risk of falls & injuries
5️⃣ Adds years and life to your years

It’s about independence, confidence, and the freedom to live life on your own terms.

👉 Which of these 5 reasons motivates you the most? Or is there another reason that’s not listed? Drop your answer below 👇

You read that right, Joann has logged 1,000 workouts as of yesterday (this is technically her 1,001 pictured). Her advice to anyone considering starting an exercise routine, “Don’t be afraid to start. You’ll thank yourself years down the road.”

Great job Jo, we are so proud of you! 💪❤️
