I'm a couple days late, but helllooooo August. I'm not a summer person. I don't like anything about the heat and humidity. I tend to hide indoors in the air conditioning. The one thing I do love about summer is the abundance of fresh, local produce. What's your favorite thing about summer?

This summer my body has been yelling at me to pay attention to some things that aren't right, and I'm finally listening. Refocusing. Healing. Being intentional. Working towards new results for the Fall, which is my favorite season. What's your focus this month? Are you full speed ahead this summer, or is life trying to tell you to slow down and focus on something that needs your attention?

As spring approaches, I'm looking forward to longer daylight hours, being outside more, and getting my 2024 garden start...

Fall is my favorite season, and October and November are my favorite months. I love the changing colors of the leaves, the cool air, and being able to enjoy outdoor activities without sweating like a pig. I also truly love the comfort and heartiness of Fall produce. When thinking about health and wellness, it's easy to hone in on physical fitness and nutrition, as those are the most obvious pieces of the puzzle. But let's not forget about your mental health, too. When you're trying to relax and let things go, there's a big mental component to that. Don't forget to close all the tabs in your head, too.

I had a tiny lunch today, and it caught up with me after our evening walk with the dogs despite a hearty dinner. I decided a peach was in order to help me sleep, and dolloped some yogurt on top to help stave off middle of the night hunger. I thought to myself hmmm, I wonder if yogurt can actually help you sleep? 🧐
Below are just a few of the health benefits of yogurt (we're talking about plain, unsweetened yogurt, not the sugary nonsense). Not included in this infographic are several other benefits, including tryptophan, which can help you sleep by converting to serotonin and melatonin!
Now, I understand not everyone can eat dairy, so if you are dairy sensitive then I understand yogurt is not an option for you. But if you're like me and have no issues digesting honest to goodness dairy products that haven't been messed with, added to, sweetened, etc, then consider yogurt as a pre-bedtime snack and see if your sleep improves.
I get my yogurt from local farmers, and it is creamy and delicious without all the added nonsense.

I had what was one of this season's last local peaches for dessert this evening, and thought to myself hmm, I wonder what health benefits peaches have? Here are just a few that I found on a Google search. One that's not listed here that did come up in multiple sources is that peaches are an excellent relaxant. I guess it was a good choice to have close to bedtime! 🍑😴
