Bodywork is an art. Language is an art. So many clients come with a similar problem: “I’m so tight.”

But they are rarely describing a literal, physical shortening of the muscle that requires stretching. Instead, they are usually reporting a sensation.

Understanding that this “tightness” is a symptom rather than a diagnosis is crucial for effective treatment. *As a LMT we are not Doctors and we cannot diagnose* But understanding the language of pain will help your clients understand their body, and help differentiate symptoms and guide your session as a practitioner.

Unless affected by an ailment or injury, pain triggers are typically caused by weakness, overuse, poor posture & mobility and nervous system stress.

Is it tight? Or is it tired?
