We were closed this morning due to two practitioners being on "Spring Break," and used the opportunity to get our windows professionally cleaned. Many thanks to New Hope Window Cleaning Service for doing such a bang-up job. These guys clearly take pride in their work, just as we take pride in our light-filled clinic! The windows are glowing even on this overcast April showers sort of day.

Research shows acupuncture led to better decision making in research subjects, such as taking up surfing, adopting a kitten, going camping, or embarking on a career as an acupuncturist.

4 out of 4 of our staff acupuncturists started a new career as a direct result of getting acupuncture.

Correlation equals causation when it comes to needles and the free flow of Qi, friends!

Just kidding... but seriously! Happy April Fools Day from your friends at Bridge 🌷

Acupuncture is great for your brain. A new article in Acupuncture Today nicely summarizes recent research into acupuncture and cognitive health, showing potential benefits for memory and cognition. This adds to a strong evidence base supporting acupuncture's role in recovery from TBI, concussion and stroke.

The Acupuncture Today article also summarizes research into Chinese Herbal Medicine and cognitive decline, showing that herbs can play a role in protecting your brain health. This is consistent with millennia of traditional use as well as indications in TCM for powerful herbs like Panax ginseng (ren shen), Salvia miltiorrhiza (dan shen), Curcumin (from turmeric/jiang huang), and Polygala tenuifolia (yuan zhi) for cerebrovascular, anti-inflammatory, cognitive-emotional, and adaptogenic support.

By popular demand-- the recipe for Suzie's Black Sesame Mochi Cake is now up on our blog! Navigate from the link in bio or by heading to http://bridgeacupuncture.com/blog.

Excerpt from the blog post on the recipe by : "Black sesame is one of the many foods that nourish the Kidneys, which are associated with the Water element and have energy that peaks during the winter season. In Chinese Medicine, the Kidneys store vital essence, or jing- one of the five fundamental substances and the source of living organisms. The Kidneys promote growth and development of the body and play an important role in reproduction. They also produce bone marrow and can be thought of kind of like your body’s DNA. Healthy jing means great energy levels, healthy bones and teeth, and dark, thick hair!

"The inclusion of rice flour makes this cake naturally gluten-free and yet gives it a chewy mochi texture similar to dduk (Korean traditional rice cakes). In cutting the sugar my version is “not too sweet,” which is the ultimate praise for any Asian dessert consumed by Asians and Asian Americans.

"This cake really makes the black sesame seeds shine! They not only nourish your jing but add a slightly crunchy texture amidst the chewiness."

맛있게 드세요 Mas-issge deuseyo! Enjoy deliciously 😋

What we eat, how we raise our food, and the health of our environment, our communities and our bodies is all one continuum. To highlight these connections, Bridge Acupuncture is proud to sponsor an upcoming local event hosted by The Bucks County Foodshed Alliance and Delaware Valley University: a guest presentation featuring renowned writer and biologist, Anne Biklé.

Biklé will draw from her most recent book, What Your Food Ate: How to Heal Our Land and Reclaim Our Health. She will share recent and forgotten science to highlight the concept of one health through the evidence connecting soil health to human health. Farming practices can support this fundamental linkage—and help keep money in a farmer’s pocket.

The pathway ripples from the soil, winding through the bodies of microbes, crops, and livestock, eventually reaching us. These intimate connections reveal a fundamental truth—what’s good for the land is good for people too.

The event will also feature a panel of local integrative medical doctors and regenerative farmers. Your ticket also includes a reception featuring: Appetizers by local chefs, local organization tables, and book signing with Anne Biklé!

The event will be held Thursday, April 9th from 6-8:30pm at Del Val. We'll be there tabling to represent Bridge, and sharing in the feast of learning. To get tickets head to
bucksfoodshed.org and navigate to the event page.

You asked. You waited. It’s finally here. 🍵

Organic, curated, loose-leaf Japanese green tea is now available in our apothecary. 🍵

We are so happy to share this selection of organic teas, including genmaicha (roasted rice tea), houjicha (roasted green tea) and two varieties of sencha (traditional steamed and rolled Japanese tea). 🍃

For the tea-curious we also offer a tasting kit with ten (!) curated varieties. 🍵

It’s exciting to be able to fill a gap by providing a local option for high-quality Japanese tea. More to come, including teaware and tea-ducation! ☺️🍵

Acupuncture offers a research-backed, non-drug option that may help many people with the frustrating diagnosis of fibromyalgia feel and function better. Research suggests it can do so by influencing the body’s own pain‑modulating chemicals, including a messenger called neuropeptide Y.

Read all about the latest research into acupuncture for fibromyalgia-type pain, and how patients can get started with including acupuncture in their care plan for this condition, on our new blog post, https://www.bridgeacupuncture.com/blog/neuropeptide-y-acupuncture-actions-in-fibromyalgia-patients

After six years service to the Bridge community, our Faye is leaving us to find something more senior friendly and closer to her new home in Q-town. What will Bridge be like without her tirelessly friendly humor and creativity? ✨ It will be different, and we will miss her. 💔

We are happy to pass on any sentiments to our Faye if you will miss her too and wish to leave a card or gift at our office. Also, if you'd like to be invited to our Faye Appreciation Picnic (date TBD), DM here and we'll keep you in the loop.

It's not goodbye but tah tah for now. Thank you, Faye! 💫

Acupuncture can work exceptionally well for challenging vertigo cases. This patient had a diagnosis of chronic BPPV as well as vestibular migraine, starting after a concussion all the way back in 1990. Her case was complex with both peripheral (nerve or inner ear) and central (brain) causes.

With acupuncture alone, even after just one session she could immediately get better feedback from her vestibular system to correct her balance on a foam pad after removing eyesight (closed eyes).

We also performed various applied neurology exercises to help her vestibular integration with vision and proprioceptive senses, and taught her home exercises.

A month into her initial course of treatment she was solid as a rock. I’m happy to report this patient is still vertigo free, popping in for monthly prevention but doing quite well between visits.

Know anyone needing help with vertigo, even after a course of vestibular PT? Please, send them our way.
