The modern bowling ball was invented on this day in 1962!

Did you know the earliest bowling balls were simple stones or balls made of corn husks and leather in ancient Egypt (c. 3200 BC)? Over time, they evolved into heavy, smooth lignum vitae (a dense hardwood), which remained the standard until 1905, when the first rubber ball—the Evertrue—was introduced.
