Thank you to Park City journalist, Scott Iwaski and The Park Record for your informed review of HB 258 Women's Cancer Screening Notification and Protections.

As indicated in the Bill and which closely follows Arizona's statutory provision for full notification and disclosure, as many as 50% of all women have dense tissue. This is common, but it also makes the mammogram results hard to fully and accurately evaluate.

Some doctors and the Utah Medical Association have expressed a desire to omit any references to other possible forms of cancer screening examinations. We are discussing and considering possible amendments if that would be helpful and still accomplish the much needed notification that is currently missing under Utah law. Since 1991, Utah has recognized in statute the "Mammography Quality Assurance Act" but without the updates and added protections that 31 states have wisely chosen to adopt. HB258 will provide much needed cancer screening notification and protections for women. B258 Needs your support it's in trouble of being squashed. Please contact your local Senator and ask them to vote yes. Even the American College of Radiology agrees.

Please read... Help support this Breast Screening Bill in Utah!

Our dear friend and state representative LaVar Christensen needs our immediate help passing a house bill to support the fight against breast cancer. We need your help!

This bill will require physicians to inform and educate patients who have a higher risk of breast cancer and lower risk of detection.

Show your love and support for breast cancer survivors and champions by showing up at the Capital this Monday, February 5, 2018, 3:40 PM, 20 House Building, to testify or support those willing to testify before the Members of the House Health and Human Services Standing Committee.
