Since childhood, Dr. Bowers knew that there was one thing that she wanted to do in her life: help animals. In 1996, she made that dream a reality by graduating from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine. She has a special interest in traditional as well as non-traditional and emergency veterinary medicine, treating cats, dogs, birds, small exotics (guinea pigs, rabbits, ferrets, etc.), as well as amphibians and reptiles. Dr. Bowers has practiced in Delaware County for over 20 years and shares her home with two large dogs (Duncan and Reina), six cats (Bodhi, Jolene, Teddy, Prendie, Mo & Charlie Bob), and two snakes (Ricky and Sissy). All are very HAPPY!

National Pet Week 2026 runs from May 3–9, celebrated during the first full week of May to honor the bond between humans and animals while promoting responsible, year-round pet care. Sponsored by the American Veterinary Medical Association, it highlights daily themes focused on health, nutrition, and safety.

How to Participate:
• Schedule a Check-up: Use this week to ensure your pet is up to date on vaccines and exams. Love your pet? See your vet!
• Improve Fitness: Take your dog for an extra long walk or play or engage in active play with cats to support their physical health.
• Plan for Emergencies: Create a pet disaster plan and update emergency contact information.
• Show Appreciation: Pamper your pet with new toys, grooming, or treats.
• Consider Adoption: Volunteer at or support local shelters.
