Please join us tomorrow at 7:30, 9, or 10:30am to Honor Supervisory Special Agent Michael “Mike” Garbo who died on Oct. 4, 2021, while serving with the United States Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA). Garbo, 51, joined law enforcement after graduating from Eastern Illinois University. He eventually joined the DEA and dedicated his life’s work to combating drug traffickers. Based in Tucson, Arizona, he traveled all over the U.S. and to Kabul, Afghanistan, for the job. He was a practitioner of jiujitsu and other martial arts, and loved spending time with his wife and daughter. Garbo is survived by his wife, Vida; daughter, Alexis; brother, Terry; niece, Kennedy Valinevicius; and many loved ones.

🔥 Monday WOD Recap 🔥

Strong start with ascending overhead squats, demanding focus, balance, and confidence under the bar. Then we got after it with a Partner AMRAP 10 that tested grit and teamwork. Wall balls, chest-to-bar, and box jump overs pushed lungs and legs while partners kept each other moving.

Today was about effort, trust, and showing up for your teammate. Heavy work, good vibes, and a well-earned cooldown.

Please join us tomorrow at 7:30, 9, or 10:30am to Honor Army Captain Paul Pena, 27, of San Marcos, Texas, who died on Jan. 19, 2010, from wounds sustained from an enemy force’s improvised explosive device. Pena was leading a patrol in Arghandab River Valley in Afghanistan at the time of his death. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 508th Parachute Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division in Fort Bragg, North Carolina.

Pena participated in the Junior ROTC program at San Marcos Baptist Academy and later graduated from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point. He maintained his fitness with CrossFit workouts and particularly enjoyed running, burpees, push-ups and pull-ups.

He is survived by his mother, Cecilia.

Please join us tomorrow at 7:30, 9, or 10:30am to Honor Adam Finseth, 40, a firefighter and EMT in Burnsville, Minnesota, who died Feb. 18, 2024, from a gunshot wound sustained while providing aid to a wounded officer. Finseth joined the Army after high school, completing two tours in Iraq. He achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant and became a squad leader. After retiring from the Army, Finseth earned his Fire Science and Paramedic degrees, serving several communities in Minnesota beginning in 2014 before joining the Burnsville Fire Department in February 2019. He eventually joined the SWAT team as one of two SWAT medics. Finseth is survived by his wife, Tara; children Liam and Nora; parents, Brad and Brenda; sister, Amber Smith; and many other relatives and friends.

Ryan Knauss, assigned to the 9th Battalion, 8th Psychological Operations Group (Airborne), who died on Aug. 26, 2021, in Kabul, Afghanistan, after sustaining wounds from a su***de attack at the Hamid Karzai International Airport where he was supporting noncombatant evacuation operations. Knauss, 23, grew up in Corryton, Tennessee, and joined the U.S. Army in 2016 following his high school graduation. This was his second deployment. Knauss is survived by his wife, Alena; parents Greg and Paula; and brother Tyler.

Please join us tomorrow at 7:30, 9, or 10:30am to Honor Italian Army C.le Magg. Sc. Roberto Marchini, 28, of Viterbo, Italy, who died during a reconnaissance mission in Afghanistan’s Bakwa district on July 12, 2011. Marchini served in the 8th Airborne Combat Engineer Regiment, Folgore Brigade.

While on base, Marchini used whatever he could find to do CrossFit, often incorporating farmers carries, sandbag runs and tire flips in his workouts. His favorite exercises were double-unders, push-ups and power cleans.

Marchini is survived by numerous friends and family members.
