The Marshall Browning Lily Bee Gift Shop congratulates the first-grade students from Du Quoin Elementary for a great job participating in our Goose Naming Contest. The students were given a picture of a goose to color and tasked with naming the boy and girl geese displayed in the hospital gift shop. The geese have been very popular items in the gift shop, along with many outfits available for purchase. The students submitted wonderful and creative names, and the best names for a boy and a girl were chosen from each class.

Room 1: June and Gerald
Room 2: Katie and Dragontacular
Room 3: Vilot and Victor
Room 4: Lily and Lucky
Room 5: Goosey Loosey and Ducky Lucky

The overall winners were “Lily and Victor.” Victor was named by Iris from Mrs. Stanhouse’s class, and Lily was named by Eliza from Mrs. Stratton’s class. They were each presented with a goose for their classroom and selected a favorite outfit for their goose to wear.

THANK YOU to all the children who participated and the first-grade teachers! The male and female geese, with their distinct outfits, have been so popular that the gift shop has had to reorder them several times. No worries -- more are currently on order!

Meet Cheynne, one of our dedicated night shift nurses on the Med/Surg floor. Cheyenne began her career at MBH as a CNA, obtained her LPN, and is currently working toward her RN degree. (One of our many outstanding benefits includes paid full tuition for nursing school!) Cheyenne has been a steady presence for our night shift team for the past three years. She loves her patients, and our patients love her, too. Join Cheyenne and our dedicated team and become part of the MBH family.

PATIENT SAFETY AWARENESS WEEK was held at Marshall Browning Hospital from March 8-14. Employees participated in fun activities that emphasized strong teamwork between patients, families, and care teams, which is essential to creating a safe care environment for everyone. Activities included patient safety trivia, crosswords and postcards, a team-based jersey day, and a raffle drawing for a basket and 2 Cardinal tickets. Our lucky winner of the Cardinal basket and tickets was Sherry Wertz, Clinical Informatics.

When patients and families are actively engaged as partners, they share important information, ask questions, and speak up about concerns that might otherwise be overlooked. At the same time, care teams can explain plans clearly, confirm understanding, and invite feedback. We’re all safer when we work together! We hope you enjoy some of our team pictures. ❤️
