JOY Health Clinics The J.O.Y. Health Clinics is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization. The Clinics are a mission of the community that began operations in 2012. Jesus. Others.

The Clinics provide free medical, dental and vision care to those who qualify through volunteer providers. Yourself. Our mission is to provide healthcare for the working citizens in Laurens County who can’t afford health insurance. Dr. Bob Shuman is the Medical Director and has been since the clinics’ inception.

​Our clinic is a volunteer clinic, consisting of physicians, nurse practioners, physician assistants, nurses, administrative / clerical people, church pastors and other Christians. This platform allows us to build relationships and share the love of Jesus with our community. Most importantly, we are able to share the gospel Christ with everyone who is seen in the clinic. Last, but certainly not least, are our wonderful volunteers! From medical professionals to administration, your time & hearts make all the difference 💛

This year, we've been blessed to have 45 VOLUNTEERS giving their time to help others see the love of Jesus! These volunteers are the foundation of what it means to serve. Today, our gratitude is focused on the reason we exist - our patients! 💛

Each person who walks through our doors reminds us why we do what we do. This year, we've served 181 patients, and have facilitated 465 clinic visits in our medical, dental and vision clinics! 🎊

We're kicking off Thanksgiving week with gratitude. Each day leading up to Thanksgiving, we want to show how thankful we are for a few special groups 💛

First up are our incredible donors who make the mission of J.O.Y. possible! Because of your generosity, we're able to provide faith-based care to those in our community who otherwise may not get it.

This year, we've been blessed by 25 churches, 4 businesses, and 24 individuals or families. Out of these donors, 32 of them are brand new in 2025! 🙌

Our Story

The J.O.Y. Clinic was established in June 2012. The clinic is a volunteer based nonprofit Christian health clinic that provides patient services to those who are employed and without health insurance or those who have been unemployed for 6 months or less and are actively seeking employment. ​ Patients served have a family income at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Level. Appointments are scheduled following completion of the application process which provides patient information needed for the provision of care and the determination of patient eligibility.
