𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝗴𝗶𝗼𝗰𝗲𝗽𝗵𝗮𝗹𝘆 & 𝗧𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗶𝘀 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝗶𝘀 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 𝟮𝟬𝘁𝗵 💙

Torticollis is a common condition in infants that occurs when the muscles in a baby’s neck become tight or stiff, causing the head to tilt to one side and limiting range of motion. It may be noticeable shortly after birth and can sometimes lead to head shape changes such as plagiocephaly (“flat head syndrome”).

The good news? Early treatment can make a big difference. Physical therapy helps gently stretch and strengthen the neck muscles, improve movement, and support healthy development. ()

At Unified Therapy Services, our pediatric physical therapy team works with families to evaluate torticollis, create individualized treatment plans, and teach simple exercises and positioning strategies you can use at home.

If you’ve noticed your baby:
• Prefers turning their head one direction
• Has difficulty turning their head both ways
• Has a head tilt or developing flat spot

🎉 Exciting News at Unified Therapy Services! 🎉

We’re proud to share that Kersten Yutzy, M.A., CCC-SLP has earned her certification in the SPEAK OUT!® therapy program through Parkinson Voice Project.

SPEAK OUT!® is an evidence-based speech therapy program designed to help individuals living with Parkinson’s disease and related neurological disorders improve vocal strength, speech clarity, and overall communication. Parkinson’s can cause the voice to become soft or difficult to understand — and this specialized training helps patients speak with greater strength, clarity, and confidence.

This certification allows Kersten to provide advanced, research-supported techniques that focus on speaking with “intent,” while also supporting safe swallowing and independence.

By adding the SPEAK OUT!® program, we continue expanding specialized services for individuals with Parkinson’s disease, dementia, ALS, stroke, and other neurological conditions.
