Caitlyn recently groomed Chewie Marie, and Chewie's owner had this to say-

"We have gone to several different groomers to get just the right grooming for our Chewie Marie.

We have finally found the right place and the best groomer!

Chewie was so happy and was pampered beyond belief. The haircut was perfect!

Grooming a Pomeranian I’ve been told is difficult but Goodlife was able to make her look beautiful!

Thank you so much!!"

Caitlyn is accepting new grooming clients.

Milo is a sweet, friendly, energetic dog. He's an active dog who enjoys chasing toys and going for long walks. He also enjoys relaxing in his bed or on the couch and simply being with his people.

Milo needs to live in an adult only home. Milo seems to enjoy meeting new people but children make him anxious.

Milo will need to be the only dog in the house.

Milo does appear to enjoy the company of cats. He is currently living with a cat in his foster home and has been very gentle and respectful of the cat. There are also barn cats that he meets when outside. He will chase those cats if they run but is always gentle with them once he catches up to them.

Milo is doing great with house training. He has had no accidents in his foster home.

Milo is kenneled in his foster home at night and when no-one is home. He is normally quiet in his kennel.

Milo has been training with That's My Dog and his adopter will have the opportunity to continue that training.

Contact the Dubuque Regional Humane Society to set up a time to meet Milo. The shelter staff and his foster person would love to answer any questions that you may have.

On to another GoodLife foster-

Mira is a sleek, athletic, loyal girl looking for someone who understands her spark and her sensitivities. With the right person, she is pure gold πŸ…πŸ…πŸ….

πŸ’š Mira is athletic from head to toe. Her vertical jump is wild and she shows real promise for scent work or dock diving.

πŸ’š Her drive sits in the middle until a squirrel or a ball πŸŽΎβšΎοΈπŸ€enters the picture. Then she shifts into high gear.

πŸ’š She can handle uneven or unstable surfaces once she warms up.

πŸ’š She does well with the other dogs in her fitness class.

πŸ’š Food drive is low. Ball drive is sky high. She will do anything for it.

πŸ’š Her recall is solid.

πŸ’š She is sweet, people oriented, and getting more confident every week.

πŸ’›She has already made great progress with her car reactivity and her dog reactivity. Off leash introductions or calm, stable dogs work best for her.

πŸ’› She is okay with kids as long as they respect her space. She allows her foster mom to hug, handle, and settle her, but not the foster’s young son. When she gets excited coming in from play or out of her kennel, she could easily knock small children over.

πŸ’› She struggles with sharing and still carries some insecurity around leash reactivity.

πŸ’› She loves her people, but not every person. Too much noise or quick movement makes her nervous. Her head is always checking the environment. The moment she recognizes her people, everything changes. Full body wiggles. Pure joy. Her tail even spins like a little helicopter 🚁.

❀️ Cats are a firm no 🚫🐈🚫. She gets angry the moment she spots one.

You may have seen us talk about microbiome restoration recently.

I am currently in a masterclass learning more about the importance of the microbiome and dysbiosis and how it can affect the health and longevity of our pets.

Did you know that 70% of the body's immune system lives in the gut?

That means that if the gut bacteria are not healthy, our body is set up for the development of disease (think allergies, chronic diarrhea/vomiting, and yes, even cancer).

How do we know more about your dog's microbiome?

A simple p**p test!

This test is not looking for parasites (as you are probably most familiar with) but is looking at the levels and presence of certain bacteria in the gut.

Okay, then what?

If we find that your dog's microbiome is imbalanced, have no fear! There are supplements and ways that we can restore the microbiome.

One very effective way of re-introducing healthy bacteria in the gut is through f***l microbiota transplants (FMT): AKA f***l enemas. That's right, we take some high quality donor material (yes, p**p), make it into a slurry and put it right where it needs to be. (See our recent reel about this!)

Each case and each animal is different, not all treatment plans include FMT.

If you are looking at ways to improve your dog's longevity, let's take a look at the gut!
If you are looking at cracking the code to chronic illness or GI disturbance, let's take a look at the gut!

If you are looking for more information, reach out!

We are here for you and your pets.

With love,
Dr. Katie
