Integrative veterinary medicine combines conventional (Western) veterinary approaches with complementary therapies (such as acupuncture, herbal medicine, nutrition, rehabilitation, etc.).

At GoodLife, we combine both by choosing the safest and most effective options for each patient. This bespoke treatment serves our main goal... to treat the whole animal, not just isolated symptoms.

While “holistic” or “alternative” sometimes imply replacing conventional medicine entirely, integrative care includes conventional tools (like diagnostics, surgery, and pharmaceuticals when needed) and adds complementary therapies where appropriate.

It’s about blending the best of both worlds based on evidence and patient needs. ❤🐾

Have you noticed the days getting shorter?

For safety reasons, especially with older dogs, be sure to adjust your schedule so you can get out for walks or fetch before it gets too dark!

Also, do indoor enrichment or short bursts of activity to keep your dog moving well.

"I started bringing my 9.5 year old English Mastiff for underwater treadmill sessions June 30.

Over the last 12 weeks I have seen a big difference in her muscle tone, energy level and playfulness at home.

Her back legs had been sliding out behind her when she walked and that has stopped completely.

I am so thankful for the opportunity to keep her off pain medications and extend the pain free portion of her life.

She actually seems to know when Monday afternoons have arrived for her “mermaid sessions” as we call them, and gets excited to get her leash on to come.

The staff is amazing all the way from Jeni at the front desk to Dr. Katie to the fitness personnel. Love this place!!"

Dr. Katie says fitness isn’t just for out of shape or overweight dogs...all dogs benefit!

Strength training and rehab exercises help older dogs stay mobile and independent longer.

Dogs with lots of energy benefit from the stimulation of learning skills that test their bodies and brains in new ways.

And so many of our dogs love the interaction they get with our trainers (and the treats too, of course)!

"Grief Support Group has been a breath of fresh air for me.

I said goodbye to my best friend (dog) Minnie three years ago and I wish I had this group when the wounds were fresh. I decided to attend my first meeting because I still hadn’t figured out how to process the loss or properly grieve.

I walked out of my first meeting feeling lighter and happier, and have continued attending meetings as a way to honor Minnie. Everyone in attendance has been amazing and I treasure the conversations we are able to have.

There is strength in community, and thanks to Jeni, we no longer have to heal alone."
