Mt. Pleasant Home had a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner for residents last week. We are thankful for all the residents, staff, and our Board members that are part of the Pleasant experience that is Mt. Pleasant Home.

Yesterday was Give Day.
• Did you know that Mt. Pleasant Home is a non-profit charitable organization? We can take monetary donations to help fund low rents, meals, and other services for our residents. Our endowment helps support lower rent for residents. We try to use grants and other funding sources as well, to keep our costs down. We are part of the Riverbend Collaborative that helps provide lower food costs for our meals and allows us to operate a small pantry for those needing to use The Emergency Food Assistance program (TEFAP).
• Along with monetary donations we can accept other items to support our residents. If you have a TV, dresser, nightstand, framed artwork, adult clothing, recliner, or dorm fridge that you need to find a new home for, think of us! We can also take smaller items like unused hygiene items, books, puzzles, and other household items and use them for BINGO prizes or simply give them to residents who might be in need. We can also use your pop cans to redeem them and put towards our resident/staff account for Christmas.
• Please call to arrange drop-off of any donations 563-582-4144.
• We can also utilize volunteers for activities, transportation, and other support for our residents.

Think of Mt. Pleasant Home for any donations you are willing to share. Every little bit helps us continue to provide an affordable, safe, social community for our residents. Serving Dubuque for over 150 years!

We are a registered 501(c)(3) charitable foundation, so your donation is fully tax-deductible.

It's getting to be that time of the year again. With the upcoming great give day hosted by the City of Dubuque and the community foundation of greater dubuque, scheduled for May 21 2025, we are asking for help and support from friends and followers for some planned updates to our infrastructure here at the home.

We are currently planning a facelift, and update to one of our main walk in cooler areas, and are looking to earmark some funding to help us along in the project. The current equipment we have is out of date, and relies on obsolete, and aged technology. The refrigerant system has been found to use coolant that is no longer able to be easily sourced, and there is a wasteful aspect of the water cooling jacket that is currently burning through 1.8 gallons of water a minute to keep the motor chilled.

If you, or someone you know, may be interested in helping to support us in this upcoming venture, all donations would be so greatly appreciated, not only by our administration, but also by the residents who call Mount Pleasant Home, their Home, and the community members who partake in our food pantry options as well.

Follow the link posted below to find our page on the Great Give Day page. thanks for your time and consideration in this matter.

We have had quite an eventful week here on the grounds of Mount Pleasant Home. We have been spending the week actively celebrating our 150th anniversary. We have had many visitors to the home in the past week or so. Descendants of the family who provided our current location to the organization, the sheep who are currently grazing the back half of the property that was recently sold to Habitat for Humanity, and visits from the Telegraph Herald who has written this beautiful article about the home and the program we have to offer.

On Tuesday evening, we hosted a Dubuque Area Chamber of Commerce ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate our 150th accomplishment, followed by an after hours meet and greet event and hors d'oeuvres hour.

To conclude our events for the week, we would gladly invite you to stop by Mount Pleasant Home, located at 1695 Mount Pleasant Street, for an open invite ice cream social event. The event will take place beginning at 12 noon on Saturday, July 20, to end approximately around 4 pm. We will have entertainment in the form of a 12 piece Americana band from 12-2, and ice cream, light snacks, and refreshments will be provided throughout the day. There will also be a free to enter raffle, with prizes available. Seating will be limited, so we suggest you bring your lawn chairs, blankets, or other seating options to enjoy the music, and events on the lawn.

We hope that you can find the time to stop by for a brief visit, or to spend the day with us here at our home, to learn the history, and help to support the future of our program here.

For Great Give Day, which is May 15, 2024, please consider donating to our fundraiser. We are looking to source funds in order to purchase materials to build a retaining wall so that we can level the ground and create an all-inclusive accessible area to build an elaborate, locally constructed, endure-the-years picnic table for our residents and the community-at-large to enjoy.

We had some critters visit Mount Pleasant Home from Camp Courageous on Tuesday. Our residents enjoyed cuddling and loving on the little ones, and I’m sure they equally enjoyed the attention.
