Our system is built around two SH50s, Danley’s flagship Synergy Horn, paired with two TH412s, a 357-pound subwoofer built for extreme performance and clarity.
🎛️ What makes Danley different?
Tom Danley, a former NASA acoustics engineer, has revolutionized the world of professional audio with many groundbreaking innovations — but two in particular define our system here at The Goose:
Synergy Horn technology, where multiple drivers share a single horn to produce perfectly aligned, phase-coherent sound. The Synergy Horn also gives us unmatched control of the speaker’s directivity, ensuring that sound goes where the people are — not bouncing off walls, ceilings, and other reflective surfaces.
Tapped Horn subwoofers, which use carefully timed wave paths to deliver massive, accurate bass from a surprisingly compact design.
Unlike traditional multi-speaker arrays (which often cause interference and tonal inconsistency), Danley’s designs create one coherent, high-fidelity sound field. That’s why you’ll find these same speakers in world-class environments like Kinnick Stadium (Go Hawkeyes 🏈), Lambeau Field, Disney World, and countless concert venues across the globe.
🎶 Our Room, Tuned for Perfection
At The Goose, our limestone-walled basement naturally minimizes high-frequency reflections — a huge advantage for clarity in intimate listening spaces. Our rebuilt stage is anchored directly into the concrete, filled with sound-absorbing insulation, and topped with soundproofed decking and engineered hardwood, giving us the perfect foundation for live mixing when bands and microphones hit the stage.
⚙️ Measured Performance
The full-range system covers 27Hz to 24kHz of smooth, balanced audio, verified through SMAART RTI analysis. From deep, physical low end to detailed highs, every inch of the room is tuned for clarity, precision, and feel.
⚡ The Power Behind It All
Everything runs through Crown XTi Series amplifiers (on a 220v power source) and an Ashly Protea DSP management system for precision tuning and dynamic control.
🎧 Why It’s Special
There’s simply no dedicated listening space like this for hundreds — if not thousands — of miles, and very few anywhere are as accessible to the public as ours. We even hooked a digital jukebox up to the system, so when we’re open and don’t have an event going on, anyone can experience what these world-class speakers sound like.
So when we say “Hi-Fi Lounge,” we mean it — this system doesn’t just play music… it reveals it.
