Promise of Hope, Inc.

Promise of Hope, Inc. A residential program for those with a drug/alcohol problem. We have men's and women's facilities. We provide residential care for ages 18 and over.

Our women's program is located in Dudley, GA and our men's program in Cochran, GA. We are a 12 month phase program, consisting of three phases. Additionally, we are a work program, which enables the residents to become responsible for themselves, and accept financial responsibility for time in the program. They have a safe environment to experience the realities of life, where they learn to process their daily struggles and prepare to return to society. Promise of Hope provides tools that help strengthen the resident's ability to build a personal relationship with Christ, handle cravings, and address personality conflicts in the personal relationships, work place, and in society at large. These tools include promises from God's Word, prayer, 12-step program guidance, and living and communication skills. Our Family Meetings are a very successful component of our program. Education is important in learning how to stop enabling the bad behavior. Most family members don't realize their actions are helping the self destructive lifestyle to continue. Statistics show when the family members get better, the addict or alcoholic gets better sooner. Attending Family Meetings helps understanding of the process of recovery to occur.

Here is his "Goodbye Letter" to his addiction:
Dear Addiction,
You've been around for a long time now, and I thought you'd never leave. I remember when you first came into my life. I thought you would ease the pain of my childhood and make my present pain go away, but I was wrong. You brought more pain and suffering and became the neediest relationship I've ever had. All you did was take and take, but never gave me back anything. Actually, you did give me something. You gave me heartaches, burned bridges and torn apart relationships. Without you in my life, I've done so much for myself and others. I have people that I love and I know they love me too. I have my family back in my life, my beautiful daughter. And I get to be around to see my amazing grandbabies grow up. So, goodbye addiction. I never want to see or hear from you again.

Help us congratulate Whitney on completing Promise of Hope yesterday! Here is her goodbye letter to her addiction:

I first seen you in other people's life starting at a very early age. I felt the pain you cause in loved ones’ lives before I even really knew what you were. I thought it was normal to drink & party growing up. I started smoking & drinking at a very young age & liked the way it felt. I liked that it changed the way I felt & thought at the time it made situations better.

The older I got the more I partied & tried new things. When I was 17 I was in a car wreck & was introduced to my D.O.C. This was when my life really started changing. You made me think I had to have substances to feel normal & be able to function. You made me numb & I didn’t have to think about how I really felt about the past or present.

Every time I thought I had the upper hand on you, you grabbed a stronger hold on me. I was spiritually, mentally, & emotionally dead. You made me become a person I didn’t even know. I did things I said I would never do. You took my life, my family, & friends.

Goodbyes have always been hard for me & this has been one of the hardest in my life. With the help of my higher power, which I choose to call God, He has pulled me from the grave you put me in. I have missed so much the past few years in my life because of my relationship with you.

I want to be the mama, daughter, sister, aunt, etc. again that God has chosen me to be. This is my final goodbye to you because today I know a better way of life & am willing to do whatever to keep you away.

Goodbye,
Whitney

Please help us congratulate Benji! He completed our men's program yesterday! We are all praying for God to continue to bless his recovery journey!

Here is Benji's "Goodbye Letter" to his addiction:
Dear Addiction,
I am writing this letter to say goodbye. I depended on you for a long time. I believed in you. I trusted you. I even believed you were all I ever needed. In the beginning, when we first met, you took all the pain I had and made them feel okay. Because of you, I never truly learned to deal with any of them. You see, you lied to me. What you said you were fixing, you were only making worse. It's like you took my hand and drug me to hell with my eyes closed, until one day I opened my eyes and realized what you had done. You thought you had me. You thought that was the end. At my lowest point, I finally looked up for the first time and realized what you had done. I asked Jesus into my heart and He kicked the walls of that hell sent prison you had locked me in. He drug me out and slowly loved me back to good again. He showed me that you were the enemy and that you were sent here to seek and destroy. I hate you for what you have done to my family and all the people across the world who are still believing your lies. I know you will never give up but believe me when I tell you, neither will I. I will never let you back in. I will spend the rest of my life being a light and opening other eyes to your evil tricks. I chose Jesus and with Him beside me you don't stand a chance. Goodbye, addiction.
