🧠 Understanding OCD: It’s More Than Being “Organized”

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is often misunderstood. It’s not about liking things neat or being particular. OCD involves persistent, intrusive thoughts (obsessions) and repetitive behaviors or mental rituals (compulsions) that feel difficult or impossible to stop.

OCD can look like:
• Repeated checking (locks, appliances, reassurance)
• Intrusive thoughts that feel distressing or unwanted
• Excessive fear of contamination or harm
• Mental rituals like counting, reviewing, or replaying events
• A constant need for certainty
