I got to spend 3 days with some amazing massage therapists learning Ashiastu/Barefoot Massage! I am so excited to bring barefoot massage to my practice at Wild Iris! Stay tuned for the launch of that! 🫶🏻

Barefoot massage allows gravity-assisted compression and slow, controlled compressive foot pressure to reach deeper layers of muscle safely and comfortably.

Honestly, I was surprised how amazing it felt to receive this work: deep, relaxing, and effective. I’m so used to receiving massage with hands, that I didn’t know what to expect. But this blew me away! So grateful for the opportunity to learn with these gals! 🤍

Some photos from October, and something that’s been on my mind 🫶🏻

Receiving regular massage and bodywork has been one of the most impactful things I have done for my mental health and overall well-being. It’s a regular checking in with myself and my body. Feeling into the tension as the massage therapist moves to different areas, watching my awareness shift to where they are working.
Truly being in my body.
And sometimes being in my body means emotional release.
I have cried on the massage table more times than I can count, and sometimes I think crying during massage has shown me that my feelings aren’t going to be the end of me. Thank goodness! They ebb and flow, high and low, and I get to ride those waves.
Grateful to feel, and grateful to get to walk this path with everyone who has been on my massage table.

I often have clients say to me after their session,
“Wow, I didn’t realize how tight my hands and arms were until you were working on them!”

But the tension in our hands and arms makes sense
Our hands are how we make contact with the world around us, and our hands do pretty much everything for us!

I could easily spend 30 minutes just working on arms and hands in a session.

Fun fact: There are 14 muscles within your hand alone!

✨Self-care tip Tuesday ✨
We are cyclical beings, and I’ve been practicing giving myself grace this week for wanting to slow down and take a break. It’s okay, and turns out, it’s natural!

Let yourself breathe. The trees and plants literally drop their leaves and pull their energy into their roots underground for the winter. It’s okay if you are feeling some version of that too!

Things are slowing down outside
The last of the leaves
Ripple down from their homes in the trees
Crunching beneath my feet
The bugs making their way into the ground
The geese flying south in their V’s
Everything outside is slowing down

Yet it seems so hard to give ourselves grace when we also feel this calling, this yearning for slowness.

My to-do list can wait
I want to see the leaves fall,
I want to admire the birds flying overhead,
I want to watch the clouds float by.
I want to BE,
the list will still be there

So a gentle reminder, to give yourself grace and take a break if you need one

Self-care tip Tuesday ✨

Feelings are meant to be felt, it’s right there in the word!
So for those heavy things you’ve been feeling, that you can’t quite seem to figure out, there’s rocks for that!
Throwing them as hard as I can into Lake Superior always seems to help me.

She grows despite the ghosts of her past behind her
The past doesn’t define how she shows up today
Unfurling, preparing to reach toward the sky
She knows the past decaying is what feeds her future

Ghost pipe is showing me that we still get to grow, bloom, and thrive despite what happened ‘back there.’ We get to decide how we show up, for ourselves and for each other. She is showing me that we do not need to be afraid to show up fully, embodied, and ready to grow.

There are no right or wrong paths to take, there are just paths. And they take you where you are going. So today, I choose to focus on the next step to take instead of the whole path ahead of me. I can’t predict the future, but I know I can put one foot in front of the other.

I stay focused on my feet
Balanced and steady
And if I tremble I can reach for the trees
Supporting me in my journey
