One thing people never expect?

How often they’ll actually use it.

We hear it all the time.

“I thought this would be a once or twice a week thing.”
“Didn’t realize we’d be out here almost every night.”
“I didn’t think it would become part of our routine this fast.”

You buy a sauna thinking it’s a luxury.
A once-in-a-while reset.

Then it becomes your end-of-day ritual.
Your post-work decompression.
Your weekend wind down.
Your cold plunge companion.
Your excuse to step outside.

It stops being something you plan to use.
It becomes something you just do.

That’s the part no one calculates.

And honestly, it’s our favorite thing to hear.

Sauna isn’t just physical.

It’s one of the few places with no screens. No noise. No notifications.

Just heat. Breath. Thought.

It’s where ideas surface.
Where stress settles.
Where clarity shows up.

Some people meditate. Some reflect. Some brainstorm their next big move.

The common thread? Stillness inside the heat.

It started small.

A few sauna tents. Rented locally. Shared with friends and community.

Chad didn’t set out to start a movement. He just knew what authentic sauna was supposed to feel like and wanted more people to experience it.

Word spread.

One rental turned into another.
Then demand surged.
People didn’t just want to borrow the experience. They wanted one of their own.

So he started selling them.

That’s how North Shore Sauna became the first US based sauna tent company.

A few years later, we’re here with the largest sauna tent community in the United States. Thousands of backyards. Lakesides. Mountains. Driveways. All connected by the same ritual.

From a couple local rentals to a national movement.

Built from experience. Grown by community.

Huge thank you to for the interview and the beautiful footage helping tell this story.

First official day of spring.

Here’s what a spring sauna session looks like:

Snow melting at the edges of the yard.
Cool air, but not biting.
Fire crackling a little easier tonight.

You step out into longer daylight.
Steam rising into soft evening light instead of winter darkness.
Birds back in the trees. Water moving again.

Heat inside. Renewal outside.

Same ritual. New season.

Spring sessions just hit different.

The biggest surprise?

The heat.

Most people assume a tent sauna can’t possibly feel like a “real” sauna. Then they step inside.

The stove roars. The stones are blazing. Water hits. Löyly rises thick and rolling. The heat wraps around you and settles deep.

That’s when the skepticism disappears.

It’s not about the walls. It’s about the fire, the stones, and the experience.

And that part? It’s very real.

Our goal was simple.

Make real sauna accessible.

Not just for cabins in the woods or permanent builds.
For backyards. For driveways. For lakesides. For trailheads. For wherever life takes you.

Sauna should not be limited by location.

So we built something you can take anywhere and everywhere.
Set it up after a long workday.
Bring it on an epic adventure.
Heat it beside the water.
Fire it up under the stars.

It’s yours. Use it how you want.

Make it part of your everyday or your once in a lifetime.

That freedom is the point.

Huge thank you to for the interview and the beautiful footage helping tell this story.

We’re almost there.

The days are stretching a little longer. The sun feels a little warmer. You can sense the shift.

Spring sauna season is coming.

Soon it’s backyard sessions without snow boots. Cold plunges that don’t require breaking ice. Fire crackling as the sun sets later and steam rises into cool evening air.

Winter builds resilience.
Spring brings renewal.

Either way, the ritual stays the same.

After more than four years of customer reviews, we’re sitting at 4.92 out of 5 stars.

That’s not hype. That’s thousands of real sessions. Real backyards. Real communities. Real feedback.

You don’t maintain a rating like that without delivering consistent heat, quality, and support.

We’re proud of the number.
But we’re even more proud of the community behind it.

Most people are skeptical… until they step inside.

We hear it all the time:
“A tent sauna? There’s no way it feels like a real sauna.”

And honestly, we get it.

When you’ve grown up around authentic, wood-fired sauna culture like Chad did, you know what the real experience is supposed to feel like. The heat has to be deep. The steam has to wrap around you. The löyly has to hit just right.

That’s the standard.

What surprises people is what happens after their first session. The moment the stones are hot. The water hits. The löyly rises. The space fills with that thick, rolling steam. The quiet. The intensity. The reset.

And suddenly the skepticism turns into,
“Wait… this actually feels like the real thing.”

Because it is.

North Shore Sauna wasn’t built to be trendy. It was built to replicate an authentic wood-fired sauna experience anywhere (backyard, lake, mountains, campsite, or just your own backyard) without compromising the ritual.

Real heat.
Real steam.
Real löyly.

Huge thank you to for the interview and the beautiful footage capturing this story and helping share what makes this experience so different.

"Nap time.

The house finally goes quiet.
Monitor humming. Toys still.

You light the stove.
Wood crackles. Zipper closes. Bench creaks.

Water hits hot stones.
A slow hiss.
Löyly rises and wraps around you.

For ten minutes, you’re not answering questions.
Not cleaning. Not rushing.

Just breath. Heat. Reset.

Parenthood is loud.
Sauna is quiet.

Take it whenever you can.

Sauna and cold plunge work together because of how your nervous and circulatory systems respond to temperature stress.

In the sauna, core temperature rises. Blood vessels dilate. Heart rate increases in a controlled way, similar to moderate cardio. Circulation improves. Muscles relax. Parasympathetic activity increases as you settle into the heat and controlled breathing.

Then you introduce cold.

Cold exposure triggers rapid vasoconstriction. Blood shifts toward the core. Norepinephrine and adrenaline increase. Inflammation pathways can decrease. Alertness spikes.

Moving between heat and cold creates a vascular “pumping” effect.
Dilate. Constrict.
Heat stress. Cold stress.
Recovery response. Adaptation response.

Over time, this contrast can support cardiovascular conditioning, stress resilience, and improved autonomic balance.

It is not just fire and ice. It is controlled hormetic stress.

Heat builds tolerance.
Cold sharpens response.
Together, they train the system.

Sauna wasn’t a trend for Chad. It was Tuesday.

Before biohacking was a buzzword and before cold plunges were filling feeds, sauna was just part of life. Part of family. Part of community. A weekly, sometimes daily ritual that grounded him long before North Shore Sauna ever existed.

This isn’t a brand built on hype. It’s built on lived experience. On growing up with steam in the air and conversation on the bench. On knowing firsthand what a real sauna session feels like.

That’s the difference.

Huge thank you to for the interview and the beautiful footage capturing the roots of it all.
