A recent proposal from the federal government would limit the amount of money students can borrow through federal loan programs for graduate programs such as nurse practitioner and physician assistant training. As a result, students in these fields may be forced to rely on higher-interest loans or may decide not to pursue these careers at all.

As health care providers across the country confront ongoing workforce challenges, we need to make it easier – not harder – to recruit and retain talented nursing professionals.
